257 Beatty Street Sudbury ON P3C 4G1 Ph: 705.673.5619 Fax: 705.673.7910 www.nocabuild.com OLRB Northeastern Ontario Construction Association supports having either the current Board areas (16, 17, 19 and 20) expanded or creating new Board areas around the current ones. The only thing I do think is important is that the new or expanded Board areas follow the district maps. I have 5 districts in Northeastern Ontario that still have white areas: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Sudbury Parry Sound Temiskaming Nipissing Cochrane 1. The Sudbury district could either have Board area 17 expanded or create a new board area around Board area 17. Which would remove all white areas and follow the contour of Board area 21. 2. Parry Sound currently has no Board area, a new Board area would need to be created, the district of Parry sound exactly contours Board area 18. Board Area 18 is the district of Muskoka/Simcoe 3. The Temiskaming District has an extremely small Board area 20, this area could be expanded or a new one around Board area 20. The Temiskaming District contours the District of Sudbury, Nipissing, Cochrane and the Quebec Border. 4. The Nipissing district could either expand Board area 16 or create a new area around Board area 16. The Nipissing district contours the district of Sudbury, Temiskaming, Parry Sound, District of Renfrew (Board area 14), District of Haliburton (Board area 11) and the Quebec Border. Please note that a small white area of Hastings would still not be covered by the District of Nipissing. 5. The Cochrane District could either have Board area 19 expanded and create a new area around Board area 19. The district of Cochrane however already has an area covered in Board area 25. Unfortunately, Board area 25 does not reflect the Provincial I.C.I. bargaining. For example, in the Carpenters Provincial Collective Agreement “That portion of the District of Cochrane lying east of Moose, Abitibi and North Driftwood Rivers, and South of the 49th parallel.” This small area could either remain in Board area 25, or be in the new area created or create its own area. The districts are clearly marked on the OLRB Geographic area map. I’m hoping that the new or expanded areas follow the area Districts, which would provide clarity to area contractors in which area they are working in.
