A.A.S Human Sen'ices to Bachelor in Social Work
Overview:
This formal program articulation agreement is made and entered into by the Curators of the
University of Missouri on behalf of the University of Missouri - St. Louis, hereinafter after
referred to as UMSL, and St. Charles Community College, herein after referred to as SCC. By
this agreement, SCC and UMSL express a shared commitment to increasing opportunities for
student access to and success in higher education. By clarifying transfer policies and procedures.
which assure articulation between programs, the institutions seek to assist students by creating
clear pathways to baccalaureate degree completion.
Purpose:
This program- to- program agreement provides SCC students the opportunity for the most
efficient credit transfer to complete the UMSL Bachelor of Social Work Degree.
Conditions of Transfer:
Section 1: Admissions and Matriculation
SCC students maintaining continuous enrollment under this agreement will be afforded the same
treatment and protection as UMSL students.
Criteria for acceptance into the UMSL undergraduate degree program will be the same for
transfer as for UMSL students.
SCC, upon request of students, will provide transcripts to UMSL through its Registrar's office.
The transcript of students transferring from SCC will be evaluated by the UMSL Degree Audit
System (DARS) ofhce and Social Work Degree Program. Transfer students from SCC will have
access to financial aid, scholarships, and student services on the same basis as UMSL students.
Minimum grade standards for academic progress and graduation from SCC will be subject to no
further review by UMSL.
UMSL will apply the same academic progress and graduation standards to SCC transfer students
as those applicable to UMSL students.
Section
II: Transfer
of Credit
SCC and UMSL agree that, in accordance with the CBHE Credit Transfer Guidelines 2005, "AA, AS,
and AAS transfer students may choose to complete additional lower-division requirements at two-year
institutions to meet the lower-division prerequisites and/or lower-division graduation requirements
establ ished by the baccalaureate institution.
To clarifu, students may transfer more than 64 credit hours for lower division courses from either
Missouri associate degree-granting or baccalaureate degree-granting institutions. Any additional lower
division course credits above 64 credit hours will be accepted in transfer if the credits are applicable to the
baccalaureate degree or are prerequisites for an upper division course in the major."
SCC and UMSL agree that to ensure a complete and seamless transfer of credits for A.A.S -HMS
students, students are strongly encouraged to complete a SCC CBHE approved 42hour general education
block prior to transfer to IIMSL.
SCC and UMSL agree that students completing the course grouping of SCC HMS 100, HMS 101 and
HMS 102 with a grade of B- or better in two of the three courses and a C- or better in the third will
receive credit for UMSL SW 2000. SW 2001 and SW 2200.
SCC and UMSL agree that SCC HMS 201: Human Services Practicum I, HMS 202 Human Services
Practicum II; HMS 203 Human Services Practicum Seminar I and HMS 204 Human Services Practicunt
Seminar II wrll be accepted in transfer as approved electives for the degree but not for the UMSL Social
Work major. To be in compliance with program accreditation requirements. all UMSL Social Work
students must complete the required practicum courses at the 3000/4000 level.
SCC and UMSL agree that all students wishing to major in Social Work are admitted to the University
Pre-Social Work. Students must apply for formal admission to the Social Work program upon
completion of related areas and concurrent enrollment in Social Work 3100.

Terms of Agreement:
This agreement is made and entered into in the academic year 2012 and remains in force unless changed
in rvriting by mutual agreement of both parties. The agreement may be amended at any time with the
approval of both parties and is subject to regular review to assure currency with the respective degree
requirements. Should either party desire to discontinue this agreement, advance notification of two years
will
be required.

Signatures:
St. Charles Community College (SCC) and the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) hereby enter
into this program articulation leading SCC students to the completion of the Bachelor Degree in Social
Work by affixing the signatures of the chief executive officers of both institutions.
