It has now become status quo. • Many of your Buildings are at Capacity now. • Special Education will continue to grow and require space. • Parking, drop off, & pick up areas are inadequate at many schools. (Safety Issue…..) • Redistricting will not solve your space deficiencies longterm. • Gyms should be added at Union and Lincoln Schools due to them having some of your largest enrollments. • The key decision is to determine the future of the Lincoln/West Jr. High site. Current Overall Building Capacity Enrollments: Current vs Home Home Land Area Available for Expansion Color coding represents feeder schools Preliminary ● Construct a New Jr. High versus a New Elementary, eliminating the need to ‘redistrict’ and providing a new 21st century facility for grades 7th & 8th that all students will benefit from that feed into this Jr. High. ● The Lincoln/West Jr. High site could be converted into two (2) Elementary Schools, plus consider relocating selected ‘special education classes’ from Douglas, Jefferson, & Westhaven, thereby reclaiming regular classrooms at those schools. ● Improvements must continue to be made at the Lincoln/West Jr. High site irrespective of its grade configuration. ● Space deficiencies and repairs at all schools are needed and remain under consideration.
