Alaska’s Cook Inlet.


Real-Time 3D Pipe lay Catenary & Stinger Tension monitoring and 3D forward-look route inspection
• Constant 3D monitoring of the pipeline on the stinger greatly assisted the barge and pipe lay
operators to adjust tension and barge positioning.
• Several obstructions, not noted by previous sonar surveys, along the proposed pipe lay route were
identified and the route was adjusted in real-time without need for additional survey
• Shallow water Touch Down was monitored and reported in real-time using the aft-looking Echoscope®
Real-Time 3D Mattress Placement installation
• All mattress laying, rock dumping and diver operations were monitored successfully with Echoscope®
• Seeing in real-time coupled with the ability to make measurements enabled UTEC to reduce risk and
significantly improve productivity rates.
UTEC Project Summary – Key Success Highlights
Real-Time 3D Monopod Imaging and Positioning Installation
• During the installation, operators relied on the FOUR simultaneous Echoscope® systems and USE, the
real-time visualization and 3D modelling software as the primary method to see the monopod’s
position relative to the king pile and conductor as it was lowered.
• They easily identified when the monopod was not vertically aligned, out of XY position, made
measurements, and took action to accurately position the monopod onto the king pile and then the
conductors.
Use of the tightly integrated 3D Modelling in USE allowed a totally
innovative, relative model alignment process driven by the unique
real-time 3D sonar data from the Echoscope®
