“I AM A MUSLIM…”
“I am a Muslim. Why would I go to church?”
In Iran, Shapoor never had an opportunity to reject an
invitation to go to church. There was simply no one to
ask him, unlike his current home in the United Kingdom,
where he was invited repeatedly.

After living in the UK for several months, Shapoor
became depressed and lonely. He attended a
Christmas party to meet other Iranians and heard a
song that called Jesus the “Prince of Peace.” In that
moment, his heart stirred, and he prayed:
“God, I am so lonely and depressed. I don’t
know where I’m going or what my future is. If
You don’t leave me, I will serve You with all my
heart, for the rest of my days.”
Since becoming a believer eight years ago, Shapoor
has led over 600 people to Jesus! His home is now
a 24-hour house of prayer where believers come to
pray for friends, family, their city and the nations. He
has discipled and commissioned 20 Iranian families
to move to other parts of the United Kingdom to live
out their faith among other immigrant communities.
Shapoor is one of countless asylum seekers,
immigrants and refugees whom God is moving nearer
to the gospel. Last year alone, more than one…

…million people from Africa, Asia and the Middle
East fled their homes and entered Europe. The UN
reports that over 65.3 million people have been
forcibly displaced from their homes—more than any
other time in history.
THE WORLD NEXT DOOR
Right now, Christians in the United States and
Europe have an unprecedented opportunity to share
the Good News of Jesus with people who have
never had the chance to hear it. And like Shapoor,
there are people from Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist
backgrounds that God will use to build His kingdom
in miraculous ways!
Through The World Next Door—Pioneers’ 2017
campaign—we can seize this unique moment in time
when the world is on the move. Pioneers aims to
raise $1.8 million for this campaign, which features
four focus areas:
of immigrant and refugee populations now living in
the U.S. and Europe. A concerted effort across all
Pioneers departments and channels of communication
will increase the interest and involvement of Pioneers’
partner churches and individuals in this task. Our
ultimate goal is to see more people from places
without the gospel message, like Shapoor, changed
forever by the love of Jesus.
II. Sustainable Growth & Development
We are grateful for generous partners like you
who helped build Pioneers’ new Fletcher Center.
This facility will allow us to mobilize 2,600 more
missionaries in the next decade! But, without
our base being secure and stable, Pioneers’
mobilization efforts will be undercut.

IV. Dispersed Peoples
I. Great Commission Discipleship & Partnership
The number of unreached people in the world
today has grown to 3.12 billion (according to
JoshuaProject.net). Even with Pioneers’ recordbreaking 250 new missionary recruits in 2016, the
need for more Great Commission workers has never
been more urgent.
Pioneers sees an extraordinary opportunity to recruit for
new and existing teams to serve the growing number
Pioneers is blessed to have a partnership with a
Christian businessman who has offered to build and
operate a hotel on our property, then gift it to Pioneers
upon his passing. This will provide greater lodging
space for event and training attendees, and offers
a strong future income stream. We are working on
developing additional plans to monetize other parts of
our property so as to direct future funding overseas.
Yet, such development increases Pioneers’ public
profile in the community. In light of growing security
threats around the world and locally (such as the
recent Pulse Nightclub shooting in our own city), it
is necessary to double our efforts to provide a safe
working environment for our U.S. staff who support
overseas missionaries. These efforts allow us to
capitalize on our property while protecting our staff
and campus.

III. Missionary Development & Security
The Lord blessed Pioneers in 2016 with 250
missionary recruits—the most in a single year. Our
new building gives us greater capacity in 2017 to
provide these missionaries with quality pre-field
training and crucial support during overseas service.
Pre-field training includes language acquisition,
partnership development, cross-cultural awareness,
church-planting and more, so that Pioneers workers
have many effective tools and training to draw upon as
they begin to minister to people without the gospel.
Each Pioneers field worker is assigned a Member
Development representative that helps them with
spiritual and personal development. In addition to
coaching, prayer and accountability for workers on
the field, the Member Development Team hosts
week-long “debrief” events at our base in Orlando.
This event provides a restful and recuperative break
from the intensity of cross-cultural missions work.
to report daily tragedies, the need for increased
security awareness training in 2017 is crucial. In
addition to daily security advising and online security
training, we are providing all Pioneers members
with in-person security training. By partnering with
professional security training agencies that share
our heart for missions, we can prepare our workers
for how to best react to security threats and new
global realities. Not only does this help missionaries
be more aware and responsive during a security
incident, but it helps ease anxiety that often
accompanies the growing tension of global instability.
IV. Dispersed Peoples
Acts 17:26-27 says, “He made from one man every
nation of mankind to live on all the face of the
earth, having determined allotted periods and the
boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should
seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him
and find him.” God can redeem the tragic fact that…
Once on the field, Pioneers missionaries find
creative and innovative methods to seek out
spiritually-open people and initiate Bible studies.
These projects and ministries provide access points
into otherwise inaccessible communities, and also
offer the rails for church-planting movements to run
on. In 2017, we will help establish new missionaryled initiatives and grow existing initiatives.
As movement of people around the globe is at
an all-time high, and news headlines continue

…there are more people in the world today displaced
from their homes than during any time in history.
Every person is exactly where God wants them to be.
He led Shapoor from Iran to the United Kingdom,
where Shapoor found life in Him. Shapoor’s
testimony now reaches back to Iran, where his
parents and siblings have put their faith in Jesus
because of his influence.
Today’s movement of people presents an
extraordinary opportunity to establish relationships
and catalyze church-planting movements in
communities of unreached peoples now in the
U.S. and Europe. Teams in cities like Seattle
(Washington), Portland (Oregon), Manchester (UK),
and Athens (Greece) partner with local Christians
to care for vulnerable and marginalized immigrant
groups, foster community involvement between
immigrants and locals, and inspire movements of
faith. We want to support these strategic teams,
as well as provide resources (such as vision trips,
training, etc.) to help establish new teams in
key cities where large communities of refugees,
international students and immigrants live.
