Biographical/Sketch/Administrative History
John Thomas Mulcahy was born in Orillia, Ontario, on December 14th, 1879. He graduated from the University
of Toronto in 1901, and was admitted to Osgoode Hall Law School that same year. He was called to the Bar of
Ontario in 1904 and practiced law in Orillia and Coldwater, Ontario. In 1928, Mulcahy was appointed a judge of
the County and District Courts for Renfrew County. He retired from the bench in 1955. Mulcahy died in
Pembroke, Ontario, on May 3rd, 1967.
Scope and Content
Fonds consists of a financial day book maintained by John Mulcahy while a lawyer in Coldwater and Orillia,
Ontario, and a photograph of Mulcahy taken in 1928 upon his appointment as a judge for Renfrew County.
Provenance
The volume and photograph were given to Gregory Mulligan by Lucille, Gertrude and Jacqueline Mulcahy, the
nieces of John Mulcahy.

Item is a financial day book (or ledger) maintained by John Thomas Mulcahy while a lawyer in Coldwater and
