TOGETHER, WE'RE BUILDING A CYCLE OF SUCCESS. LIFE ESSENTIALS TOGETHER, WE’RE BUILDING A CYCLE OF SUCCESS. We all want Greenville County to be a thriving community where everyone has the opportunity to live a safe, stable and successful life. Meeting basic needs provides an important foundation, but it’s not enough. Focusing on long-term solutions that create opportunities and eliminate barriers is the only way to strengthen our community for generations to come. Using your donations, we are working to build a Cycle of Success where all children start school prepared to learn and go on to graduate, welleducated graduates find good jobs and create stable homes, and children from stable homes continue the cycle because they start school prepared to learn. Change can't happen without you. All of us coming together is the key to creating lasting change for families throughout our community. Our approach is unique: • We invest in programs and initiatives with proven records of success to deliver results. • We lead and support partnerships and collaborations to solve shared community challenges. Last year, more than 132,000 people benefited from the programs and initiatives your contributions make possible, receiving assistance with life essentials or showing measured improvement in the key areas of School Readiness, High School Graduation or Financial Stability. Your continued support is critical. Please give today because change like this can't happen without you. 103,383 people were helped with basic needs. 15,715 children are more prepared to start school. 3,657 students got on track for high school success and beyond. 9,340 people moved closer to financial stability. See more about the OnTrack Greenville story at unitedwaygc.org/cyclestories. TOGETHER, WE'RE BUILDING A CYCLE OF SUCCESS Getting (and keeping) students on track Making sure all of Greenville County’s children achieve the important milestone of high school graduation is fundamental to building a Cycle of Success. What began as a United Way strategy to improve middle grade success has grown to become OnTrack Greenville, a community initiative that is changing the way we keep students on track to high school graduation and future success by bringing collaboration to a new level. Inside some of the highest-need middle schools in our community, hundreds of people—from teachers and school administrators to health care professionals, nonprofits and community volunteers—are rallying together under the banner of OnTrack Greenville. The goal is to identify students with academic, behavior or course performance challenges early and move quickly to address the unique needs of individual students and their families. While the challenges faced by students and their families are many, Communities In Schools’ Rushawnda Olden sees the difference United Way and our OnTrack Greenville partners are making. “United Way is creating a change in our community,” she said. “Through United Way and the OnTrack initiative, my students have hope. With that little piece of hope, they’re seeing a future.” See Meredith's story at unitedwaygc.org/cyclestories. TOGETHER, WE'RE BUILDING A CYCLE OF SUCCESS Giving back has a far-reaching impact As an AmeriCorps member serving with United Way’s Financial Stability programs, recent college graduate Meredith Morgan has committed a year of her life to building a Cycle of Success in our community. Whether it’s helping young mothers create a stable home for their children or preparing free tax returns through VITA, Meredith is witness to the far-reaching impact of United Way every day. She sees how financially stable families that can not only meet basic needs, but also save for higher education, a home, or retirement, are building a Cycle of Success for their children and for generations to come. “I go to work and I love what I do because I get to help people in the most tangible way,” she said. “But not everyone needs to take a year off of their life to give back. Just a gift to support United Way can go so far. I’ve seen the impact United Way has. I’ve seen the lives changed.” How you can help to build a Cycle of Success Want to make a difference?
