the whole city was shaken and asked, "Who is this?" And the crowds replied, "This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth in Galilee."

Saint of the Week Highlight
Saint Stanislaus
Bishop and Martyr
Feast Day: April 11
Patron: Poland; Krakow; Morality
Stanislaus was born at Krakow in
1030 into a well-to-do family. After
studying in Paris, he returned to
Krakow, was ordained a priest, and
in 1072 was elected bishop. A great
preacher and man of charity, he
battled the immoral behavior of the
ruler, King Boleslaus II. The king
turned a deaf ear to the bishop’s many warnings, and in the
end Stanislaus excommunicated him. In response, the king
had Stanislaus murdered while celebrating the Mass. Stanislaus was canonized in 1253. He is depicted in episcopal vestments, often while performing an act of charity.

Missed Confirmation?
Are you someone who was baptized in the
Catholic Church, but has not received the
sacrament of Confirmation? Are you a lifelong Catholic who’s been told you can’t be a
godparent for Baptism, or a sponsor for Confirmation because you are not confirmed?
Missing out on Confirmation can happen for many reasons you didn’t feel ready, you moved, you didn’t make the classes,
you didn’t fulfill the requirements, etc.
If you are this person, or if you know someone who meets this
description, you are invited to receive the sacrament of Confirmation this Spring, 2017.

(April 17-May 22), contact Sr. Sue Hetebrueg by

Reverse Food Pantry Drive—
A Huge Success!
Thank you for your superb response to the
Lenten reverse collection in March for the
North-Side Christian Food Pantry. Whether
you gave a case or a can of food, or prayed
for the pantry, it was greatly appreciated.
Our needy patrons are numbering around
85 each week.
The sixth grade students from St. Elizabeth
Ann Seton Catholic School are, again this
year, helping at the food pantry every other month. I wish you
could see them in action. They are so energetic, polite, and
helpful. Recently one student led the prayer with our clients
before serving them. Another used his Spanish in speaking
with a group of men for ten minutes. They were so pleased that
they came back to him, after receiving their groceries, to converse a little more. Others carried heavy bags of food for those
who needed help.
Thank you to all our volunteers, those young and young at
heart, and to you our parishioners, we couldn't do it without
you. Jesus said in Matthew Chapter 25, "Come you who are
blessed by my Father...When I was hungry and you gave me
food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink".

Holy Week—
Semana Santa—
The Mystery of our Salvation
El Misterio de Nuestra Salvación
Today we enter into the holiest of all weeks of
the year as we commemorate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on
Palm Sunday. The trip from the area around the Sea of Galilee
where Jesus did most of his public ministry would’ve been
about 70 miles. As Jesus made this long trip by foot he knew
that his destiny, upon arriving in Jerusalem, would be the
cross. What always strikes my heart is that when Jesus enters
Jerusalem he’s greeted by a large crowd who placed cloaks
and palm branches before him, and who cry out “Hosanna to
the Son of David; blessed is he who comes in the name of the
Lord; hosanna in the highest.” Just a few days later though this
cry would be transferred into “crucify him” the cloaks and palm
branches would be transformed into whips and spears. The
large crowd would thin out to a handful of disciples, including
St. John and our Mother Mary who would’ve also journeyed,
the 70 or so miles, from Nazareth to suffer with her Son.
Holy Week gives us an opportunity to walk the path that Jesus
and Mary walked for us. Jesus and His Mother ask each of us
in our hearts, “will you accompany us in our suffering this
week?” Many times within the challenges of our own lives we
may feel like God has abandoned us. Holy Week is a definitive
reminder that God will never abandon us, in dying for us on the
cross he’s gone “all in for us.” God will always remain faithful
to us, but will we remain faithful to Him?
There are a number of moving parts within the parishes especially in light of the recent announcement that the three
Northside parishes will share two priests. One of the changes
that is being finalized is a new Mass schedule. Currently there
are nine weekend Masses (ten during the weeks of the faith
formation Mass) and a number of the times overlap. A realistic
goal is to go down to six weekend Masses plus the faith formation Mass. Another project that is being worked on is a capital campaign for St. Clement Parish that will be officially
launched the Sunday after Easter. There are a number of
structural repairs including the installation of a new heating
system that cannot be put off much longer. Over the last number of years we’ve been able to accomplish re-carpeting the
church, refinishing the pews, tuck-pointing, and work on the
windows through the endowment fund as well as the annual
operational budget. The next phases of the project once completed will ensure our parish campus will be in great shape for
the future.
With Mary, In Mary, Through Mary, for God’s Greater Glory.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
Semana Santa, mantengamos nuestros corazones abiertos
para las gracias especiales de esta importante semana de
nuestro año litúrgico.
Sepan que el P. Mateo y yo estamos sosteniendo a cada uno
de ustedes en nuestras oraciones. Que tengan una bendita
Semana Santa.
