Thanks to all who responded to the questionnaires and interviews for these surveys. 2011 Arkansas Fruit, Nut, and Vegetable Summary Blueberries: Area of blueberries harvested was 250 acres in 2011, down 50 acres from 2010. Yield was 1,600 pounds per acre, down 570 pounds per acre from 2010’s crop. Utilized production was 400,000 pounds, down 250,000 pounds from the 650,000 pounds in 2010. The season average price for the 2011 crop was $1.73 per pound yielding a total value of the crop at $692,000. Grapes: Bearing acres of grapes was 600 acres, unchanged from 2010. The yield for 2011 was 2.0 tons per acre, down 1.5 tons per acre from the 3.5 tons per acre from 2010. Utilized production for 2011 was 1,100 tons. The total value for the 2011 crop was $1.08 million. Peaches: Bearing acres of peaches was 1,200 acres, unchanged from 2010. The crop yield for 2011 was 1.5 tons per acre, below 2010’s yield of 2.5 tons per acre. The utilized production was 1,760 tons, down 1,070 tons from 2010. The season average price was $1,550 per ton, up $200 per ton from 2010, while the total value of production was $2.73 million, down $1.09 million from 2010. Pecans: Pecan production is forecast at 2.6 million pounds in 2011, up 1.5 million pounds from the 2010 crop. The average price per pound is forecast at $1.83, down $0.06 per pound from 2010. The total value of the crop is forecast at $4.75 million, up from 2010’s $2.08 million. Tomatoes: Area of tomatoes harvested for 2011 was 1,200 acres, up 100 acres from 2010. Average yield was 192 hundredweight (cwt) per acre, up 22 cwt per acre from 2010. Total production was 230,000 cwt, up from the 187,000 cwt produced in 2010. The average price received was $64 per cwt, with the total value of the crop at $14.7 million. Watermelons: Area of watermelons harvested for 2011 was 1,200 acres, down 100 acres from 2010. The average yield per acre was 265 cwt, up from 2010’s yield of 260 cwt per acre. Total 2011 production was 318,000 cwt, down 20,000 cwt from the 2010 crop. The season average price was $11.50 per cwt, up $3.30 from 2010. The total value of the crop was $3.66 million, up $885,000 from the 2010 crop. Grapes Peaches Pecans 2011 United States Fruit, Nut, and Vegetable Highlights Blueberries: Total utilized production of blueberries was 428 million pounds with a season average price of $1.84 per pound. The total value of the crop was $789 million. Grapes: Utilized grape production totaled 7.22 million tons with a season average price of $552 per ton for all types. The total value of the crop was $3.98 billion. Peaches: Utilized production was 1.03 million tons of peaches with a season average price of $576 per ton. The total value of the crop was $596 million dollars. Pecans: Utilized pecan production was 271 million pounds with a season average price of $2.52 per pound. The total value of the crop was $683 million. Tomatoes: Total production was 30.4 million cwt of fresh market tomatoes with a season average price of $42.50 per cwt. The total value of the crop was $1.29 billion. Watermelons: Total fresh market production of watermelons was 39 million cwt with a season average price of $13.90 per cwt. The total value of the crop was $544 million.
