Layers of Soil Snack Cup Ingredients: 3 Chocolate Cookies 1 Chocolate Pudding Cup 1 Plastic Spoon 1 Gummy Worm 1 Quart Sized Plastic Bag 1 Small Cup of Chocolate Chips 1 Clear Cup Directions: Step 1: Place 3 chocolate cookies into quart sized plastic bag. Gently crush cookies inside of bag. Step 2: Pour most, but not all of the chocolate chips from the small cup into the bottom of the clear cup this will show the ‘Bedrock’ layer of soil. Bedrock is made up of all rock. Step 3: Take one small bite of chocolate pudding, enough to make room in the cup. Mix the remaining chocolate chips into the chocolate pudding cup. Stir with spoon. Add half of the crushed cookies into the chocolate pudding cup and stir again. Step 4: Empty the pudding cup into the clear cup without stirring to create the ‘Subsoil’ layer. This soil layer includes humus and some rocks. The chocolate chips are the rock and the humus is the pudding. Step 5: Empty the rest of the cookie crumbs on top of the pudding ‘subsoil’ layer. This will create the topsoil layer. Topsoil is where you will find the roots of trees and animals living in the soil. Step 6: Add the gummy worm on top of the cookie crumb ‘topsoil.’ Step 7: Dig in and enjoy! Created by Ms. Lomax 2015 Thank you for downloading my very first product! This lesson is great for reading functional texts, following directions, and goes with the third grade VA SOLs on Soil! It is also just a fun dessert! Created by Ms. Lomax 2015
