Dear Parents,
School has been busy this week
as we have had lots of teachers
out of class starting to write
end of year reports for all the
children. The reports will be
with you before the end of term.
It has also been the week for
the Phonics screen for some
children in Years 1 and 2. We are
pleased with how they approached it and applied their
phonics. Well done to all the
staff who have been working
hard to help the children secure
their phonics skills which will
make a real impact on their
reading and writing.
We are delighted to let you know
that we have had several new
governors joining our Governing
Body. Miriam Gopaul and Vincent
Lo both join us as Parent Governors. Miriam is a long standing
governor and chair of the Children and Community Committee
whilst Vincent is new to being a
governor. Zoe MacLeod has been
co-opted on as a staff governor
and three other governors—
Grace Hussey, Simone Grayson,
and Maria Anastase have also
been co-opted on. Maria has a
long history with the school as
she was a pupil here!We are delighted to have people with a diverse range of skills joining us
and grateful that they are willing
to give up their time to support
the school.
I hope you will meet them over
the coming weeks.
With best wishes
Sarah Deale Head teacher

NSPCC Advice
The NSPCC Schools Service has recently visited all children in years 5 &
6 to provide them with key messages about keeping safe. They have advised that it can be beneficial for these messages to be reinforced at
home. The NSPCC has developed some guides for all parents of primary
school aged children to help speak to your child about keeping safe –
called the Underwear rule. You can find guides to the Underwear Rule to
help you have simple conversations about keeping safe from abuse at
www.nspcc.org.uk/underwear or you can speak to an advisor for further
advice or request a hard-copy guide for parents and carers by phoning
the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000. You can also visit
www.nspcc.org.uk/parents for other advice on keeping your child safe.
Bonjour. Aujourd'hui est la Journée français à
l'école!
Today we have been embracing all things French as it was our annual
French day, organised by our brilliant Amanda Allen. Amanda teaches French
across the school and co-organises our School Council among other things. Today Year 4 produced a fantastic assembly which told us all about the French
Revolution. The day continued with French activities in class and a School
Council French Day quiz. It culminated with a French cafe which gave all the
children a chance to practice their French. Merci Beaucoup Amanda.
