this historical event. The focus is on empathy through discussion, creation of characters and scenes.

Confidently Playing with Shakespeare. An introduction to performing and enjoying Shakespeare’s most
famous scenes and plays. To support transition to Year 7.
Midwitch. A scheme of work exploring styles of performance. The focus is on developing their physical skills
using this supernatural story as a stimulus.

‘Hazard Hunting’ in the DT workshop & classroom.
Investigating properties of metals. Developing sketching skills using construction lines. Pupils will design
and make a mould to manufacture / cast a pewter key fob.
More about mechanisms – using a mechanism and motor to produce reciprocating movement. They will
use this to design and make a walking monster or vehicle, assembling the different parts, including an
introduction to strip heating/ forming acrylic. They will learn how controllers can be used to program
movements and other outputs, introducing and gaining an understanding of robotics.

Introduction to plastics – learning to use the vacuum-forming machine. Pupils will design and make a
mould for forming a plastic product such as a post-it holder or desk tidy.
Planning & organisation – learning how to plan and sequence the steps required for manufacturing a
product. They will reuse materials to make a ukulele.
Decorating textiles using appliqué – developing sewing machine skills. Pupils will design and make a felt
monster.
