WANTED: PEOPLE WHO LOVE PARTIES!
Every year, some of the most popular auction items are invitations to parties hosted by St. George's
families. A limited number of invitations to each party are sold at the auction. These events are a great
way to get to know other St. George's parents and to build a spirit of community, all while having fun and
contributing to the success of the auction. Past events have included private dinners, cocktail parties and
moms' or dads' night out events. The type, size, location and date of the party are up to the hosts, and
those details are provided in advance to anyone purchasing a spot. Please consider volunteering to host a
party, either alone or with others. Also, if you have a special connection with a person or business that
could help with a party for parents or kids, we would love to know that as well. If you are interested or
have any questions, please contact Krystil Lawton at [email protected]. Thank you!
RE-ENROLLMENT CONTRACTS

BIG NATE AUTHOR TO VISIT ST. GEORGE'S ON FEBRUARY 22ND
Thanks to Garden District Book Shop, Lincoln Peirce will visit students in 3rd - 6th grade on Monday,
February 22nd. Mr. Peirce (pronounced "purse") is the author of the hilarious Big Nate book series. He
is also a cartoonist/writer and New York Times bestselling author with his books now published in 25
countries worldwide. He is the creator of the comic strip Big Nate which appears in over 300 U.S.
newspapers. Lincoln's boyhood idol was Charles Schulz of Peanuts fame, but his main inspiration for Big
Nate has always been his own experience as a 6th grader. Just like Nate, Lincoln loves comics, ice hockey
and Cheez Doodles. His Big Nate books have been featured on Good Morning America and in the Boston
Globe, the Los Angeles Times, USA Today, and the Washington Post. He has also written for Cartoon
Network and Nickelodeon. Attached is a flier for ordering signed copies of several of his books. Please
make your checks payable to Garden District Book Shop, and all orders must be turned in by
Friday, February 5th.
PHOTOS FROM MOTHER/SON BREAKFAST
Lower school moms enjoyed some special time with their little Valentines at last week's
Mother/Son Breakfast. Moms, browse through our photo gallery on our website to find your
photo with your son. If you would like a high resolution copy, please email Kacie at
[email protected].
PRESCHOOL AND PRE-K BOOK FAIR
We'd like to thank the Preschool and Pre-K families for a wonderful book fair on Saturday. Many parents
brought food, helped set up and cleaned up afterwards. Thank you for your support!
PLEASE RECYCLE YOUR MARDI GRAS BEADS
Let's do our part to recycle Mardi Gras beads to prevent them from ending up in the storm drains or the
landfill. The beads will be donated to St. Michael's School and The Strive Center where they will be
cleaned, re-strung and sold. PLEASE DOUBLE-BAG THE BEADS!
"JUMP ROPE FOR HEART" EVENT
Did you know that heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the United States? Did you know that 10
minutes of brief exercise a day can reduce heart attack risk by nearly 50%? The time has come for us to
make a difference! Jump Rope for Heart, a fundraiser sponsored by the American Heart Association is
an amazing event that helps raise money for boys and girls affected by heart disease. We are very excited
to be a part of this incredible event this year! We will have our kick off assembly on Monday, February 1st
when students will be given more information about heart health, how they can help, and a glimpse into
the fun activities that will be scheduled in PE the week of February 15th. From February 1st - 19th,
students will be able to raise money to support the American Heart Association. To learn more, look for
information that will be sent home on February 1st or contact Coach D at
[email protected].
