Undergraduate Programs
Teacher candidates complete state and national licensure examinations to document completers’ knowledge and skills. The following
charts provide evidence the candidates in the UNC Unit demonstrate solid knowledge of content and skills at the undergraduate
programs. The scores reported are for program completers for the 2012-2013 academic years.
During the 2012 -2013 academic year, the test file/category in which UNC did not surpass the 80% pass rate was PC Elementary
Education Comp, PC Science Composite, PC English Composite, PC Linguistically Diverse Ed Comp, and XC Mathematics
Composite where the pass rates were 67%, 67%, 67%, 75%, and 50%, respectively. However, scores involving small numbers or
examinees must be interpreted with caution.

Results of the PLACE/Praxis exam for 2012-2013 indicate that UNC teacher candidates had an overall pass rate of 85%. However,
scores involving small numbers or examinees must be interpreted with caution.
