Habitats
!
Where does your favorite
animal live? All animals live
in a habitat. This is where they can
meet their needs by finding food, water,
shelter and air. This week we will be
reading about the rain forest, the woodland forest,
the Arctic and the desert. The students will also
be looking at specific images and discussing how
they help the reader to understand the text.

Remember to sign the Wed. folder in the 3rd week
!of March boxes to show that you received this
!information and your child completed reading
homework.
The students are
continuing to practice
measuring skills. This week includes adding/
subtracting and comparing measurements. Keep
estimating with your child. This can be a tricky
skill that improves with practice. Ask your child
to estimate objects in inches, centimeters, meters,
inches and yards. They can measure to check
after estimating.

Writing
StaminA
Do you want to help your child
build writing stamina? It takes practice
to train your brain to think of ideas and
get them written onto paper. Many
second graders could use some writing
inspiration at this time of the year.
Think about trying this writing idea at
home.
Make it a goal to write for 5 minutes
every day. Try to write the whole time. If you
write too, you can both share your writing
when the time is up. The following websites
have writing ideas for March.
