EHS Morning Announcements: 05/02/17 Good Morning EHS, today is Tuesday, May 2nd,…..Please stand for the pledge. Hey Golfers: There will be a brief informational meeting for any student interested in playing golf next fall tomorrow Wednesday, May 3rd. The meeting will be held in room 223 immediately after school. If you have any question or you are unable to attend the meeting due to a spring sport, please see Coach Kistler in room 223 during the school day. Attention Boys interested in playing soccer: There will be a pre-season meeting with the Boys Soccer coaches Tuesday May 16th at 6:00 p.m. in the EHS Dining Hall. This is for all new and returning male soccer players. Parents are encouraged and welcome to attend with you. Information and handouts will be shared regarding summer activities, possible camp and practice schedules. We’ll look forward to seeing you there! Stop in the Athletic Office or Mr. Heighberger’s office if you have any questions. ACT Boot Camp: College Now is hosting two free ACT boot camps during the summer. Only the first 25 students to register for each session will be accepted. Stop by the College Now office to register. Diversity Walk: Attention students that have been invited to attend the diversity walk this Saturday. Permission slips are due to Ms Trump by Thursday. You can drop these off in any of the offices--just give them to the secretary. If you need to buy a shirt see Mrs. Owca. College Credit Plus: Lorain County Community College will be having an College Credit Plus Orientation at EHS in the Dining Hall (cafeteria) on May 16, 2017 at 3 pm. All students who plan to take College Credit Plus courses for the First Time must attend. Key Club: Key Club will have a meeting after school on Thursday, 5/4 in room 305. We will be electing next year's officers. Anyone interested in an office position for Key Club for the 2017-18 school year should complete and turn in the application to Mrs. Prechtel or Mrs. Johnson. Applications are available outside room 305 EHS Robotic Team: Attention students interested in the Elyria High School Robotics team: There will be an informational meeting this Thursday immediately after school until 3:30 in the ImaginEering Hub, Room 124. You don't have to be a coding savant or master mechanic, students of all experience levels are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please see Mr. West for more details. Attentions Students Who Shadowed a Job Last Week: If you completed a job shadow last week, please log on to Naviance ASAP to complete a short survey about it. Once you log in, there will be a link on your homepage in the blue box that says “What’s New”. To log in, go to connection.naviance.com/elyriahs and use the same username and password as powerschool. See Mrs. Trump with questions! SENIORS: The Elyria Kiwanis Scholarship is due today. Please turn all completed applications into Mr. Cake. The Lauren Brian Scholarship and the Erin Adkins scholarships are to be turned in to Mr. Cake by Friday of this week. Chess Club The chess club is back in the Media Center every Wednesday immediately after 8th period until 3:30. Special Olympics Anyone interested in volunteering for Special Olympics on Friday, May 12, please pick up an application in the main office or in room 133. Applications are due back to Ms. Moujaes (Ma-j-eye-es) in room 133 or in the main office by tomorrow. Any questions, please see Ms. Moujaes (Ma-j-eyees). Safety Town: The Elyria Parks & Recreation Department is now accepting applications for individuals interested in working as an instructor for Safety Town. If interested, please stop by the office and pick up the information. All applications are due by this Friday, May 5, 2017 and must be returned to the Elyria Parks & Recreation Department, 131 Court Street, Suite 103. Bowling League: Attention EHS Students, there will be a summer bowling league open to Elyria City Schools students entering the 5th through 12th grade in the fall of 2017. The Elyria High School varsity coaching staff will be available throughout the season to provide instruction. This is a great chance to get to improve your game and get to know other students. Free Physical Exams for Athletes: The 9th Annual Center for Orthopedics Sports Physical Event is June 9th! The check-in times are from 1-5PM in Sheffield Village. The examination is quick, easy, and (best of all) free. All participants will receive a complimentary goody bag and t-shirt, while supplies last. Make sure that you bring the OHSAA Preparticipation Evaluation Consent form and reserve their spot at Center4Orthopedics.eventbrite.com.
