Law Reform (Repeal of Laws) Act 1997

An Act to repeal certain laws
[Notified in ACT Gazette S264: 19 September 1997]
The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as
follows:
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Law Reform (Repeal of Laws)
Act 1997.
Commencement
2. This Act commences on the day on which it is notified in the
Gazette.
Repeal of Acts
3. The Acts specified in Schedule 1 are repealed.
Repeal of applied NSW laws
4. The laws specified in Schedule 2, being Acts of the Parliament of
New South Wales which apply in the Territory by force of
subsection 34 (4) of the Australian Capital Territory (Self-Government)
Act 1988 of the Commonwealth, in their application in the Territory, are
repealed.

Repeal of applied Imperial laws—amendment of Imperial Acts
Application Act 1986
5. (1) Section 4 of the Imperial Acts Application Act 1986 is amended
by inserting after subsection (1) the following subsection:
“(1A) The applied Imperial Act (1285) 13 Edw. 1 c. 22, the applied
Imperial Act (1575) 18 Eliz. 1 c. 5 and section 6 of the applied Imperial Act
(1623) 21 Jas. 1 c.16 cease, by virtue of this subsection, to be in force in the
Territory.”.
(2) Schedule 2 to the Imperial Acts Application Act 1986 is amended
by omitting the following items:
“ (1285) 13 Edw. 1 c. 22
Waste by tenant in common
Part 1”;
Common informers
Part 8”.
and
“ (1575) 18 Eliz. 1 c. 5
(3) Schedule 3 to the Imperial Acts Application Act 1986 is amended—
(a) by omitting Parts 1 and 8;
(b) by omitting from the heading to Part 9 “SECTIONS 5 AND 6”
and substituting “SECTION 5”; and
(c) by omitting from Part 9—
(i) section 6; and
(ii) note 3.
