EASTER CELEBRATIONS IN THE PARK Learn to make homemade fast food, including making delicious burgers everyone will love. Let’s have some fun with an Easter Celebration and a fun puppet show at the park. MORNING PLANNED EXPERIENCE Marketing your restaurant Create an advertisement for our families to join us for lunch at our IAG pop up restaurant. Explore the wild world of reptiles Incursion: Radical Reptiles Time: 10.30am to 12.00pm Get up close and personal with the wild world of reptiles. What do they look and feel like? 2D creations Get busy with different types of drawing materials and paint. Make sure your creation stays on the page! Park and Puppets Excursion: Fremantle Esplanade Transport: Train Time: 8.50am to 12.30pm We travel to Fremantle to explore the local park and watch an afternoon show presented by Spare Parts Puppet Theatre called Hachikō. MORNING EXTENDED ACTIVITIES FOR 9-12’S Mini sous-chefs Our sous-chefs will whisk together the ingredients for our pop up restaurant. Mix and match animals Be your own designer Egg-tastic Design and draw your own creature. How many legs and arms does it have? What colour is it? Skin, feathers and more! Bring in a plain t-shirt and design a unique screenprinted t-shirt to take home. Who can create the most over the top creative egg design? Does it sing? Does it change colour? How creative can you be? AFTERNOON PLANNED EXPERIENCE Food model Do snakes like ladders? 3D art Sustainably storytelling Make model food out of plasticine to display for our families at the pop up restaurant. Reinvent the classic game and design your individual ‘Snakes and Ladders’ board. Make new rules with each roll of the dice. Create a sculpture out of modelling clay. Paint, plaster and draw using 3D ink. How inspired can we get? Using recycled materials be creative making characters for your storytelling show. AFTERNOON EXTENDED ACTIVITIES FOR 9-12’S I like that name Lego reptiles What would you name your restaurant? What food would be on the menu? Enter your restaurant into the IAG competition and the winner will be a part of the next IAG pop up. Using only Lego and your imagination, recreate the most realistic looking reptile. Use the computer to find detailed images of the reptile you would like to design. Be ready to learn the skills of archery! Learn all about the significance of Anzac Day. WORLD MUSIC AND CULTURE Easter Monday Get ready to be the star in your own production. Let’s Write, preform and film our own mini movies. Explore various instruments and music from around the world. Bring in a share plate of food from a country that is important to you. MORNING PLANNED EXPERIENCE Write that down? How good is your aim? Excursion: Whitman Park Transport: Private bus Time: 9.30am to 2.30pm Divide into groups and write your own mini movies. Everyone gets a part. Use your imagination to come up with the most out of this world script. Let’s get moving in our horse and cart (private bus) where we will participate in an archery workshop. Flanders Field of poppies Excursion: Kings Park War Memorial Transport: Walking Time: 9.00am to 12.00pm Create our own Flanders field of poppies. We will create beautiful pieces of art that we can share with our families. Martial arts - Brazilian style Incursion: Capoeira workshop (Brazilian Martial arts) Time: 10.00 to 11.30am Learn how to move to the music and have fun attempting non-contact acrobatics. MORNING EXTENDED ACTIVITIES FOR 9-12’S Practice makes Perfect Hit the mark Wreath creating Think you can do better? Let’s rehearse our mini movies, so when show time is called. We are more than ready to shine. Construct your own safe dart board that we’ll use later to practice your aim. Can you hit the bullseye? Collaborate and design a wreath that can be laid on behalf of Kids@IAG at the Kings Park dawn service. It’s about time that a new instrument was created for Australia. Combine instruments from different countries to make new and exciting sounds. My hero medallions Music from around the world AFTERNOON PLANNED EXPERIENCE Drama and Technology Using the tablets and movie making software turn the story into your own mini movie. Who’s the ’King of the Castle’? Let’s relax and discuss who the real ‘King of the Castle’ is at a picnic in Whitman Park. Who is your hero? Let them know who they are by making your hero a medallion. Let’s research some of the different cultural music and the dances that go along with them. Can you learn the moves? AFTERNOON EXTENDED ACTIVITIES FOR 9-12’S Time to be Judge and performer Let’s sit back and watch each other’s mini Movies. Get a chance to show off your skills. Part of the Junior explorers Delicious biscuits Zumba time! Explore the park, village and heritage transport. Take notes on your favourite parts to discuss with others. Baking iconic Anzac biscuits for afternoon tea. Write down the recipe so that you can share it with your family. Break into a sweat and have a lot of fun dancing to the beat in a Zumba session with Gizelle.
