Phases-different shapes the moon seems to have. 9. Solar eclipse- Result of the moon’s shadow falling on earth. 9. Lunar eclipse-result of earth’s shadow falling on the moon. Things to know: Earth takes 24 hours to make a full rotation. The tilting of Earth’s axis causes seasons. It takes the Earth 365 days to revolve around the sun. Our Moon revolves around our Earth. It takes about one month (about 30 days) for our Moon to complete one ORBIT (circle path) around our Earth. As we see less and less of the sunlight on the moon at night, the lunar phase is WANING. As we see more and more of the sunlight on the moon at night, the lunar phase is WAXING. The four seasons are: SUMMER, AUTUMN, WINTER, SPRING High tide and low tide are caused by the gravitational pull between the Earth and the moon.
