Level A1: Artículos dennidos, verbo llamar, ser, género y número, estar, estar + localización, adjetivos, pronombres posesivos, artículos demostrativos. At the end of the course, the student will be able to spell names and identify the letters of the Spanish alphabet; will be able to introduce himself / herself and others and to greet and say good-bye in Spanish; will also be able to use the verb SER to ask simple questions, to describe people, to tell the day of the week and to identify some objects from the school and the names of some popular classes. At the end of the course, the student will be able to identify visually and orally as well as to read and write the names of objects and activities related to the restaurants, to the city, to means of transportations, to some geometric figures, and to aspects related to traveling and vacations. He or she will reinforce his or her knowledge of colors as adjectives and will learn some adjectives of nationality. The student will advance in his or her knowledge of the numbers up to one thousand and will learn to make basic arithmetic operations. At the same time, the student will learn to locate countries and continents on the map with the knowledge of the cardinal points and the use of the verb ESTAR. The student will reinforce his or her knowledge of the regular verbs in present, of the verb ESTAR, and of other verbs related to traveling and vacation. He or she will also learn how to give instructions on how to arrive to a place using the commands (tú). His or her knowledge and understanding of the Hispano-American culture will continue to grow. At the end of the course, the student will be able to identify visually and orally as well as to read and write the names of objects and activities related with measures of the metric system, sports, adjectives to make physical and personality descriptions, materials, objects from the bedroom and bathroom, sensations and mental states and daily activities. To talk about these subjects the student will learn related verbs, descriptive adjectives and demonstrative; the uses of SER, ESTAR and TENER. He or she will also review the commands (TÚ) and will learn the ordinal numbers. His or her knowledge and understanding of the cultural material will have increased considerably. At the end of this last level, the student will have mastered the present indicative and its main regular, irregular and stem-change verbs. He or she will have learned to work with the agreements among subject, verb, adjective and noun and will have learned a considerable amount of vocabulary and sentence elements in context.
