Epson Interactive Tools v. 3.05

Epson Interactive Tools v. 3.05
1. Find the Epson Interactive Tools icon on the desktop of your computer
and double-click to open the application.
2. When the application opens two menu bars will display. One at the top
of the computer monitor and one on the side. A display box will appear in the center of the
computer screen which you can close or use to open application resources. Note that at the
bottom of the display box there is a checkbox “do not display this home screen when Epson
Interactive Tools has started, which can be used to eliminate the display box completely.
3. TOP TOOLBAR: Let’s review the top toolbar and its functionality first. From left to right: The
arrow icon lets you toggle the toolbar between a full display of icons to a simple display of
whiteboard and desktop.
4. The HOME
button will
bring up the
Interactive
Tools display
box in the
center of the
computer
monitor. The
disk icon is for SAVE. UP and DOWN arrows will move you up and down the pages you have
created when working in the whiteboard mode. The TOOLKIT icon provides access to additional
tools and will be discuss in detail further on. To the right of the toolkit icon is the Epson
Document Camera icon. If you have an Epson Document Camera connected to your workstation
when you select this icon it will open the document camera in a display box that you can then
capture images to annotate in the whiteboard mode. The last two icons are for WHITEBOARD
mode and DESKTOP mode. When you need a whiteboard, click the whiteboard icon to open the
whiteboard. To switch from whiteboard to display the computer desktop, click the desktop icon.
5. Let’s look at the TOOLKIT icon in closer detail from left to
right. The top left icon is a magnifier, so you can enlarge what
you are displaying. To the right is the “spotlight” that
highlights one small circle in the center of the desktop. To the
right of that is the “window shade” icon. This will fill the
computer screen with a black shade. You can draw the shade
down, left or right by clicking on the gray border and dragging
it. This is very useful when demonstrating steps in a process or
working through an equation.
Second row left: is the print icon, the settings tool icon where
you can set where your toolbars display, change the shape of
the spotlight, etc. and to the far right is a keyboard for text
entry.
The last three icons are the camera which will take an image of what is displaying on the screen.
So you can take an image of a website on your desktop, and paste it into a whiteboard to
annotate over. This is helpful with websites where students have homework examples, so you
can capture the example and annotate it in the whiteboard mode. Finally there is the “rightclick” mouse to display right click menus and the question mark for HELP. Use the arrow button
to close the tools.
6. WHITEBOARD FEATURE: Let’s take a closer look at the whiteboard feature before we review the
annotation toolbar. When you click on the whiteboard icon a whiteboard will open and display
on your computer screen.
7. At the upper left of the screen you will see this toolbar. PAGE LIST will display the whiteboard
NEW
like a PowerPoint with thumbnails of the pages on the left margin. Again you can use the DOC
CAMERA icon to access the document camera and capture an image into
the whiteboard to annotate over.
MINIMIZE
8. At the upper right of the whiteboard mode you
will see the whiteboard and desktop icons so you
can switch between the two modes. To the right is
a minimize button that will shrink the whiteboard
to a small window, and the close button. Below
that you will see the page number display.
