Day 1: Departure from Canada
Departure from Toronto for overnight flight to Berlin
Day 2 : Berlin
Upon arrival in Berlin you will be met by a local representative and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the
day is at your leisure to explore Berlin on your own.

Day 3: Lutherstadt Wittenburg
After breakfast you will be met by your tour guide and depart for Lutherstadt Wittenberg. This city is famously
known as the “Cradle of the Lutheran Reformation” and has much to offer to the history of the Reformation.
We will visit the several points of interest. Our first is a visit to the Castle Church which is the site where the
Ninety-Five Theses were posted by Martin Luther on October 31, 1517. Other sites visited will be the Luther
House, City Church and the Melanchthon House.

Day 4: Lutherstadt Eisleben & Mansfeld
After breakfast we will proceed to Lutherstadt Eisleben, Martin Luther`s birthplace and also where he died. We
will visit Martin Luther`s house where he was born, his last place of residence and the statue of Martin Luther.
Eisleben claims to have introduced the world`s very first “heritage tourism” site. Continue onto Mansfeld, where
Martin Luther spent his childhood and youth. We will visit the Luther family house and Luther’s school and
Fountain.

Day 5 Halle & Leipzig
Today we depart for Halle, the birthplace of George Friedrich Handel, born in 1685 and only left the city when
he was 17. His birth house nowadays is a museum. You can stroll through the historical Old City which is one of
the largest in Germany, view and visit the Market Square with the Handel Monument, the Market Church with
the death mask of Martin Luther and the Dome where Handel worked as an organist for one year before going
to London. We will also visit the “Marienbibliothek” exhibiting Luther’s bibles, with handwritten notes. Continuing onto Leipzig, a place for several disputations and sermons and upon arrival we visit the Thomaskirche (St.
Thomas Church), where Luther preached and Johann Sebastian Bach performed and directed the famous St.
Thomas Boys Choir.

Day 6 Naumburg & Weimar
After breakfast and hotel check out, we depart for Naumburg, and upon our arrival we will visit the late
Romanesque and early Gothic Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, one of Europe’s cathedrals. Naumburg is a
milestone for the growing Protestantism. We now proceed to the UNESCO World Heritage Site city of
Weimar, a city located in the federal state of Thuringia. This is where Martin Luther preached several
sermons. Some of the points of interest we will visit will be Luther’s pulpit in the City Church, a historical
monument connected to Classicism. We will end our interesting day in Erfurt, the capital city of the province of Thuringia.

Day 7: Erfurt
Today we will explore the city of Erfurt, visiting the place where Martin Luther studied and where he was
ordained. We will also visit the Monastery of the Augustinian Hermit, the university quarter, the old town
and other significant historical sites.

Day 8: Eisenach & Wartburg
After breakfast we drive to Eisenach. Luther once said “Almost all my relatives live in Eisenach, and I’m
known to them there and well-respected as well no other city knows me better.” We will later visit Luther’s
dear town where he visited Latin School, then continue to Luther House, St. George's Church and more.
Continuing to Wartburg, visiting Wartburg Castle, the place where Luther translated the New Testament
in German. Our last stop for the day will be Frankfurt where we overnight.

Day 9: Departure to Canada
After breakfast we check out of the hotel and transfer to the airport for our return flight to Canada. (B.)
