TRAFFIC IMPACTS 2016 Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah Friday, Aug. 5 Stage 5 presented by Zions Bank Antelope Island State Park to Bountiful Race Time 11:05 a.m. to 3:45-4 p.m. A portion of the 2016 Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah, August 1-7, will pass through or near multiple national forests, national parks and state parks this year. Listed here are probable impact areas and timelines for motorists who may be using the same roadways as the Tour in northern Davis and Weber counties. Impact Areas • The Tour will begin at Antelope Island State Park. The race includes athletes and caravan vehicles. • After passing North Ogden and circling Pineview Reservoir, the race will cross Trapper’s Loop between 1:30 to 2:20 p.m. and use Old Highway Road to access I-84. • Motorists should expect delays on I-84 for seven miles, from 1:40 to 2:15 p.m. • The race will exit I-84 using U.S. 89 and travel South, passing through the west side of Layton between 2 to 2:30 p.m. and pass through Fruit Heights between 2:05 to 2:35 p.m. • The race will utilize Mountain Road in Fruit Heights to travel approximately three miles. Expect delays in this area from 2:05 to 2:40 p.m. • The race will travel South on N Main Street and pass through downtown Farmington between 2:15 to 3 p.m. The race will turn left on State Street, then continue on Main Street through Centerville, expected to pass this area between 2:20 to 3:15 p.m. Bountiful • The race is expected to reach Bountiful, using Pages Lane and turning right on 400 East, between 2:30 to 3:20 p.m. • After turning left on 400 North, the race will make two complete laps on a circuit that includes Bountiful Boulevard, Indian Springs Rd., 400 East, Davis Boulevard, 400 East, 1800 South, Orchard Dr., 500 South, and on to Main Street. The race will then turn right onto 200 North to 400 East, turn left at 400 East and return to 400 North. • There will be two nine-mile circuits along the Bountiful Bench area. Expect delays as this area to thru traffic starting at approximately 2 p.m. until the end of the race at approximately 3:45 to 4 p.m. • Traffic crossing 400 North and Bountiful Boulevard will be permitted when the race has passed. Please follow directions of all public safety officers and official Tour course marshals in this area. • The finishing line is located at 20 S Main Street. Suggested Parking in Bountiful for Spectators • Bountiful Junior High School at 30 W 400 N • South Davis Recreation Center at 550 N 200 W • City Hall at 790 South 100 East • Bountiful High School at 695 Orchard Dr (650 S 400 E) Special Notice for Motorists • Passing is NOT permitted by any motor vehicle along the road being used by the professional cyclists or authorized race caravan vehicles. Traffic is allowed to follow behind the race, but only at the same speed as the race, which averages 22 to 28 miles per hour. • If you are traveling toward the race (in the opposite direction of the race), the Utah Highway Patrol will be controlling all traffic at certain intersections, treating this as a rolling road closure. • Without alternate routes, please be patient as some delays may occur. • A portion of the race routes for the Larry H. Antelope Island State Park opens at 6 a.m. and the $10 admission fee will be waived for Tour of Utah fans. The causeway will remain open until just before 11 a.m. However, access to the island will close at 10 a.m. Spectators will be allowed to park at the Marina (near the start line) or along the causeway to watch the race, which includes athletes and caravan. On the island, spectators will be able to see the race complete two circuits of three miles each, passing the Visitors Center two times. The race is expected to cross the causeway to the mainland between 11:30-11:40 a.m. After crossing the causeway to the mainland, the race will use 2000 West, 1800 North, and 5000 West to enter Weber County. The race is expected to pass through Hooper from 11:55 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The race will use State Road 134/4700 West through Haven Estates, West Heber and Plain City, passing these areas from 12 Noon to 12:30 p.m. The race will continue on SR 134 using 2200 North. Using 4100 West, the race will travel on 2600 North for four and one half miles. Businesses in the area of 2700 North can expect delays/closures in this area between 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. (2700 North will be closed during this time.) Race organizers understand the effect this may have on traffic/customers in the area and will open the road as quickly and safely as possible after the race has passed. The race will turn North on 600 West and continue to 3100 North, where the race will access the North Ogden Divide. The anticipated time frame that this area will be impacted will be from approximately 12:30 to 1 p.m. This includes the closure of the North Ogden Divide. Once over the KOM, the race will head south on 3500 East, Nordic Valley Drive and 5500 East to enter Eden for a Utah Office of Tourism Sprint between 1 to 1:30 p.m. Passing the east side of Pineview Reservoir, the race will enter Huntsville between 1:20 to 2 p.m. State Road 167 will be used for approximately 11 miles, including the KOM at Trapper’s Loop. This section of road will be impacted between 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. - Traveling south on SR 167, traffic is permitted to follow behind the race. No passing is permitted. - Traveling north on SR 167, traffic will be stopped and delayed 15-20 minutes as the race approaches and passes. The race will re-enter Weber County using I-84 for four miles.
