Successful LFI Students
Some of the attributes that benefit late immersion students are:
• strong English language proficiency
• maturity
• strong study skills and work habits
• a willingness to take risks and enjoy a challenge
• persistence
• tolerance for ambiguity, and
• a good sense of humour
Other factors for success include the student’s level of
involvement in extra-curricular activities and career
orientation. The most important factors, however, are the
student’s own motivation to learn French and parental
support and encouragement.
Late French Immersion programs broaden
students’ cultural life through access to
literature, art, music and theatre in another
language. They open students’ minds to
another world view by introducing them to
another culture through language.
