Getting Active
this Summer!
Your boots are clean, the bike’s serviced and the car’s
packed for the campground. There’s no better time to
get outdoors than when the days are long and your
energy is high. Whether you’re running a trail, defying a
drop off or hiking the hills, we have the gear that’s right
for you.
‘Innovation’ is the key-word for Kathmandu’s active gear
range. With new packs like the Phantom and Mirage, the
Active Motion Air Harness, and the comfort and
performance of our range of active clothing, we have all
the gear for your next adventure in the outdoors.
Get down to Kathmandu and get into action.
RUN
Kathmandu Product Designer interview:
James Fagan
“The difference is in our minimalist approach.” By
going back to basics, designer James Fagan and the
Kathmandu team have created a range of active packs
with performance, stability, comfort – and the user –
in mind.
Lite Ace Vest Women
While Kathmandu’s range of active packs incorporates
the essentials such as: light loops, key clips and
hydration sleeves, the light and strong harness designs
mean, “we have packs for the entry-level user, or the
expert with specific needs. We’ve opened the outdoors
up to everyone.”
The new Active Motion Air (AMA) harness (featured
on the Mirage and Neurone AMA packs) has allowed
James to use stronger fabrics, improving durability
without compromising weight. “Kathmandu quality
begins at entry level and carries through to our
top-end packs,” says James.
Kathmandu Active Packs keep everything you need for
running, cycling and hiking right there and easy to use.
They’re in your local store now!

Product Profile:
Puteri Cycle Top
Designed with performance in mind, the Puteri cycle
top is made from a lightweight, stretch polyester
fabric that wicks moisture away from your skin. This
combined with the UPF rating of 40, ensures you
stay cool, dry, comfortable and protected in even the
harshest summer conditions.
The Puteri, like all our active range garments, is
performance cut. That means no uncomfortable
seams to worry about and no extra drag from the wind.
The long elasticated rear hem keeps your lower back
protected from the elements and the shirt in place as
you ride. A long front zip provides maximum ventilation
when required and the collar protects your neck in the
heat of the day.

Product Profile:
Komperdell Walking Poles
Austrian-made Komperdell have produced the lightest
adjustable walking poles on the market. For the hardcore
enthusiast – or those who like the best – the carbon fibre
C3 Airshock™ is built to tame the hills.
The C3 is light and easy to swing, so your energy goes
into moving your feet and not the poles. With two grip
options you have all-terrain performance, without the
need for constant length adjustment.
The ribbed EVA foam grip, with eight degrees of positive
angle, reduces strain on your wrist. Working with the
lined wrist loop, it keeps your hands drier for improved
grip on a hot day.
Komperdell’s pneumatic Airshock™ minimises impact
on shoulders and elbows, and produces a progressive
damping effect for confident pole placement on the
most unstable of surfaces. It can be switched on and off
for power on the hills and comfort as you walk.
To protect your investment, the replaceable tungsten
carbide tip reduces the risk of pole damage in rough
environments. And maintaining the C3 is a breeze.
A quick wipe with a damp cloth and they’re ready for
use next time.

TRAVEL STORIES
Adventure before dementia!!! Thanks to Kathmandu’s
great advice, service and quality products we fulfilled
our lifetime dream of trekking through Australia’s last
frontier...From climbing spectacular rugged, rocky
gorges with breathtaking scenery in Karijini National
Park, Western Australia’s, Pilbara region, to swimming
in tranquil waterholes and refreshing cascading
waterfalls in the Kimberley’s. We were well equipped
from head to foot in our Salomon Hiking Boots, Teva
Sandals, socks, shorts, tee’s, hats etc. even packing
cells helped organize our gear.
Never too old to
“live the dream”.
I am a University student studying Ecology and just had 2
weeks of field work. Kathmandu gear is always an essential
part of my field work, its great in all weather. I went to Tiritiri
Matangi last week studying behaviuors of some of the birds
there and a friend of mine snapped a shot of me posing in
Kathmandu gear (from head to toe).
I Love my Kathmandu boots, which
stay dry in all weather and my
merino hiking socks which keep
my feet cosy and comfy
Thanks for the great products.
