means (the offering plate) on Sunday morning. If electronic giving is a more attractive and convenient method
of giving for you, please visit the church website at www.encinitaschurch.com, click on giving, and follow the
instructions. If you need assistance, please contact the church office.
CHANCEL FLOWERS FOR 2016 If you would like to honor a loved one by donating flowers to beautify the

caring for those in need in our local community.

for the kids and fellowship for everyone. This is also Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Day!
“LIFT HIGH THE CROSS” CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
The “Lift High the Cross” campaign team is pleased to provide an update on our capital fundraising. As of
May 26th, the campaign has raised $628,000 toward our $835,000 goal. Contributions to the campaign have
been through pledges and one time gifts, with recent gifts coming from new pledges and pledge increases.
For those that have pledged, given, and supported this project, thank you! There is still opportunity to give or
pledge to “Lift High the Cross” during the Sanctuary renovation and any pledge or gift is appreciated, valued,
and impactful. As we continue to invite new pledge commitments and gifts this year, the Capital Campaign
team would like to thank the congregation for its generosity, faithfulness, and commitment to San Dieguito
UMC, our church family, and our community. All funds committed to the "Lift High the Cross" campaign
will go directly toward our $1.6M Sanctuary renovation project which is underway.
Please note that renovation related expenditures have started, so if you have not already done so, sending your
pledge payment to the church as early as possible, per your pledge commitment, is greatly appreciated.

To the hopes and hurts of a troubled world,

LOOKING FOR MORE?
Often times, the sermons you hear on Sunday mornings are focused on a scripture or two that are designated for
that day by our Common Lectionary. This calendar of scriptures is used around the world by Christian churches
to ensure a broad diversity of texts are read and studied each year. You will find here, as well as in many devotional books, the texts for the coming Sunday. We invite you to look to them and pray through them this week in
your own study and personal devotion—
1 Kings 17:8-24; Psalm 146; Galatians 1:11-24; Luke 7:11-17
AND JOIN US ON WEDNESDAY EVENINGS AT 5:30 PM IN FOUNDERS HALL FOR VESPERS WORSHIP
(a sunset evening service). This brief, 40-minute service provides space for centering silence and prayer,
the reading of scripture, and communion. Come close the day and find grounding in your week
in this special time of worship together.
