a. SchoolboardmemberJodyLondon’skidsarein10thand12thgradeatTech(husbandMikeishistorianon
theOTPTSAboard).Shewassworninagaintotheschoolboardtonight,thenattendedabriefingonthe
budgetandofferedthebottomlineatourmeeting:Theschoolboardistryingwiththebudgetfor20172018todothebestpossibleforkids.Theboardisretainingasearchfirmtohelpwiththeprocessofhiringa
newsuperintendent.Jodyexplainedwhy.Theboardwillsetthecriteria;clearthatthecommunitywants
someonefromOaklandwhoiscommittedtothecityandwillstayhere.Weneedtothinkabouthowwe
welcomealeaderintoourcity.Weaskaleadertoimproveconditionsforallchildren,andyetwe’rehardon
thatpersonwhentheymakethechangethatneedtobemade.Therewillbeopportunitiesforcommunity
input(aboutonequarterofthoseinattendancesaidtheywouldattendthemeetingoncriteriafor
superintendent,manymoresaidtheywouldparticipateonline).Sheaskedwhethercommunitywould
supporttheboardofferingincentivesforanewsuperintendenttostaylongerthanfouryears.
