NickeGLOWdeon Dance-A-Thon Instructions
Instructions for Fundraising for your Dance Teams
Thank you for participating! With your help, our 2014 Greek Week will be the best yet.
1. WHAT IS YOUR FUNDRAISING GOAL?
All size category breakdowns can be found on the previous page. We are hoping that small organizations can raise
$350+, medium organizations can raise $500+, and large organizations can raise $700+. We are asking all of our
participants to try and raise at least the participation/entry fee (that is roughly $10 per person per team). Sponsors
will enable you to raise even more! But, we know you are doing your best no matter the result. The important thing
is to participate and to give it your best try. Have fun!
2. HOW DO YOU FIND SPONSORS?
Sponsors are the wonderful people who will make a flat donation for your dancing efforts. All money raised will go
towards this year’s philanthropies Victim Support Services and the Greek Life Endowed Scholarship Fund. Take
some time and make a list of all the people you could ask to sponsor you. Here are some ideas: your parents,
grandparents, aunts and uncles, neighbors, friends, co-workers and family friends. ANY contributions are
appreciated.
2. HOW DO YOU ASK FOR DONATIONS?
You can ask people to sponsor you many different ways. You could ask them in person or call them on the phone.
You could send them an email or you can write them a letter.
• Let people know how Victim Support Services helps our community or how the Greek Life Endowed
Scholarship Fund could help you. Explain that you are dancing in the Dance-A-Thon to support this cause.
• How much should you ask them to donate? That’s up to you! We appreciate donations of all sizes even
$1.00!
• The Rules: Always be polite, no matter if someone decides to donate or not. Always say “THANK YOU.”
Thank them for taking the time to listen to you.
3. HOW DO YOU COLLECT YOUR DONATIONS?
When your sponsor says “yes” they will donate, please follow these instructions:
1. Ask them to fill out the information on your Donation Form or fill it out for them
2. Find out how they would like to pay (cash or check). All donations must be paid prior to the event.
• CASH—Place it in your collection envelope and double check information on your Donation Form
• CHECK—Make checks payable to Truman State University, place it in your collection envelope
and double check information on your Donation Form.
4. WHEN DOES THE FUNDRAISING BEGIN AND END?
It begins today! And, it ends at the Dance-A-Thon on Friday, April 4th, 2014 when you turn in Donation Form and
money!
