2017 ISLC TEAM LEADERS
ALBERTO CHIAVARI
My name is Alberto Chiavari, and I have
been involved with Operation Smile since I
was 11 years old. This is my third ISLC
conference. I am from Rome, Italy and
currently reside here. Next year I am going
to be a senior at Marymount International
School of Rome. My favorite sports are
tennis and Formula 1, and my favorite
movie director is Martin Scorsese. My
dream is to become a corporate lawyer
and live in New York, USA.
ANNA MAKOWSKI
My name is Anna Makowski, and I have been involved with
Operation Smile since my freshman year of high school. This
year I served on the National Leadership Council within the
Student Programs division of Operation Smile as the
Northeastern Representative. I am from New Jersey, U.S. and
will be a freshman at Barnard College of Columbia University
this fall! I will be studying Political Science and aspire to work
as an ambassador for the United Nations. I am so excited to
get to know you all!
BETH LLOYD
My name is Beth Lloyd, and I'm originally from Bristol,
England, but I moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, U.S. in
2012; then Dayton, Ohio, U.S. last year. I began my
involvement with Operation Smile in 8th grade, when I
started volunteering at the Operation Smile headquarters
located in Virginia Beach through my school, Norfolk
Academy. I attended Operation Smile's medical mission
in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in March, and I
am a member of the National Leadership Council. ISLC is
always the highlight of my year, and I can’t wait for
another great conference!!

BRADY HISHMEH
I am Brady Hishmeh, a freshman at the
University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island,
U.S., and I am studying nursing. I have
been involved with Operation Smile since
2014 and have attended three ISLCs. I
participated in the Operation Smile
medical mission in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
in the summer of 2015, and that
experience solidified my passion as well as
my continuing involvement in the
organization.
CHIN MOSS
Hey everybody I'm Chin Moss and I am
more than excited to be your TL for this
epic ISLC in Rome!! I'm a Senior at First
Colonial high school in Virginia Beach,
Virginia. Next year I will be playing baseball
at James Madison University and majoring
in Business. I am a very outgoing, and easy
to get along with.
This will be my 4th ISLC and my first one as
a team leader but I am super stoked and
ready to meet all of you. I've been involved
with Operation Smile since I was 8 years
old, beginning with raising money for and
running the Final Mile. This year I was given
the incredible opportunity to go to China on
a medical mission. Going on a mission was
one of the most rewarding experiences of
my life. I was able to finally see firsthand
what I had been working to accomplish
since I joined Operation Smile.
I am super excited for this year's ISLC and I
hope you are too! Student programs has
done a great job putting an amazing week
together for us that will be an experience to
remember. I am incredibly excited for the
keynote speakers that will be featured this
year. I also absolutely cannot wait for
Game Day! Get ready for the best ISLC yet!

CHRIS ALESSO
Hey, guys! My name is Chris Alesso, and I was born and
raised in Morristown, New Jersey, U.S. Currently, I am a
freshman at The College of Charleston in Charleston, South
Carolina where I have started the first Student Programs
club in the state. I have been involved with Operation Smile
for four years! I have been to two ISLCs and attended my
first Operation Smile medical mission to Morocco in March
of 2016! I can't wait to meet y ’all, and I look forward to a
great conference in the land of my forefathers! So start
practicing your Italian and get pumped! Arrivederci!
COURTNEY HARPER
Hi, everyone! My name is Courtney Harper,
and I am so excited to be a team leader this
year! I am from Ramsey, New Jersey, U.S.
and have been involved with Operation Smile
since my freshman year of high school. This
is my third year at ISLC as a rising senior in
high school. I was lucky enough to go on an
Operation Smile medical mission to
Asunción, Paraguay in September 2016 and
it was the best experience of my life! I can't
wait to meet all of you!
DAN SORACCO
My name is Dan Soracco, and I am from Morristown, New
Jersey, U.S., but I go to college at Elon University, North
Carolina, U.S. I have been involved with Operation Smile since
my freshman year of high school. In April of 2015, I was given
the opportunity to go on an Operation Smile medical mission
to Amman, Jordan. I was the president of my high school’s
student club for two years, and I am in the process of starting
a club at my university. I am studying to be a Cinema and
Television Arts major. I look forward to meeting all the
awesome ISLC participants this summer!

DOMINGO CARLOMAGNO
My name is Domingo Carlomagno, and my nickname
is Sunday. I am 17 years old and live in Asunción,
Paraguay. I have been involved with Operation Smile
since my freshman year of high school. I am
currently the president of the Operation Smile
Student Club at my school. I’ve participated in seven
international missions here in Paraguay plus the
various activities organized by Operation Smile
Paraguay. I have attended two ISLCs and three LEAs
since 2015. My activities include robotics at my
school, rowing in the afternoon, golfing (in order to
release stress and chill), working with the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, and taking my dog for a walk
at night. My dream is to someday become the Secretary of Foreign Relations in my country.
HAYLEY DAVIS
I am from Lawrenceville, New Jersey, U.S. and I am
currently on the New Jersey RLC. I first fell in love
with Operation Smile my freshman year through
the student club at my school. My involvement with
the organization increased after attending my first
ISLC at Chapman University in 2015. My junior
year, I was lucky enough to go on an Operation
Smile medical mission in Monterrey, Mexico. Most
of my free time is spent with Operation Smile or
performing on stage. My dream job is to become a
music therapist so I can help children with physical
disabilities express themselves through the arts,
but I also want to stay involved with Operation
Smile and become a program coordinator after
college. I can't wait to meet everyone!
JEFFREY TRAN
Hi, everyone! I am so excited for ISLC 2017. I have been
involved with Operation Smile since my freshman year, and
this is my third ISLC. In spring 2016, I was fortunate enough
to go on an Operation Smile medical mission to the
Dominican Republic. It was amazing to see the
transformation of so many lives. Also, I'm from Southern
California, and I have served on the NLC for the Western
Region for the past year. Some fun facts: I love the Lakers, I
am on my school's newspaper staff, and Operation Smile is
my life!

JO JAMESON
Hey, guys! I am Jo Jameson, and I can’t wait to
be a TL at this year's ISLC!! This is my fourth
ISLC and my second year as a team leader, and
I am sure it is going to be the best ever! I am
from the UK where I have just finished my first
year of medical school, studying at the
University of Bristol. Outside of fundraising for
Operation Smile, my main pastimes are
student theatre, music and basketball! I look
forward to meeting you all and making this
ISLC the best ever!!
JUAN MARCOS CARLOMAGNO
Hello, my name is Juan Marcos Carlomagno, better known
as Juanma. I am from Paraguay, and I am 18 years old. I
have been involved with Operation Smile since 2013
through my school's student club. I have been CEL 15, and
now I am part of the college student club. I participated in
the four regional conferences, known as LEA, and
organized the third one which took place in Peru (2016).
Fun facts: I enjoy playing golf, taking pictures with my
camera and cooking barbecues. I'm currently studying
Industrial Engineering, and I take photography classes. I
can't wait to meet you all.
JULIA HADLEY
My name is Julia Hadley, and I have been a part
of the Operation Smile family since my freshman
year of high school. I have been to two ISLCs
previously, and in May of 2015, I attended an
Operation Smile medical mission trip to Lima,
Peru! I am from New Jersey, U.S. and have lived
there my entire life, with my parents, three
sisters, and my dog. I am going to be an incoming
college freshman in the fall. In my free time, I like
to go to the beach, listen to music, and hangout
with my friends. In the future, I hope to be a
pediatric neurosurgeon.

KYRA BAIN
My name is Kyra Bain, and I live in Virginia
Beach, Virginia, U.S. During high school, I
became involved with Operation Smile and was
able to go on a medical mission to Lincang,
China in 2014. This past year, I was given the
wonderful opportunity to take a gap year after
high school to travel and volunteer with
Operation Smile in Asia and Africa. I will be
starting my university studies this fall at William
& Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. In my free
time, I love hiking, going to the beach, and
reading. My favorite animal is a sea turtle, and I
am addicted to coffee.
LINDA CASTRO
I am Linda Castro, and I am 22 years old. I am in
law school, in my fifth year. I like to participate in
civil organizations in my country. I'm into politics,
commercial and international law. I have worked
with different kinds of social services, in public
hospitals, daycares for impoverished children,
and kids with mental illness; every experience
makes me the person who I am today. I love to
read, and one of my strongest beliefs are that
faith and action can change the world. I want to
welcome you to my team, you are about to have
the experience of your life.
LUIS BOGADO
Helloooo!!! My name is Luis Bogado, I am 17 years old, and I am
from Paraguay. I have been involved with Operation Smile since
2014. This will be my second ISLC. I am so excited to be your TL
and know each and every one of you!!! Additionally, I love traveling
and meeting new people. My favorite sports are basketball,
volleyball, and tennis. A fun fact about me is that I am obsessed
with kiwi birds, and I traveled all the way from New Zealand to
Paraguay dressed up as a kiwi!

MAGGIE TOOLE
Hi, everyone! My name is Maggie Toole and I am
from Lawrenceville, New Jersey, U.S. I first got
involved with Operation Smile my freshman year in
high school. In that time I have, been an ATL at last
year’s ISLC, been an officer at my club, a member
of the NJ Regional Leadership Council, as well as
gone on a mission to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia
in October 2016. Operation Smile has truly changed
my life and has made me want to continue on giving
back. Next fall, I will be attending American
University, Washington, D.C., studying International
Studies and pursuing that dream of working with
nonprofits as well as International government. I am
super excited to meet you all in Italy!
MARGO MURPHY
My name is Margo Murphy, I am a junior from
Pennsylvania, U.S., and I have been involved with
this amazing charity for a little more than four
years! My very first ISLC was in 2014, in Limerick,
Ireland, where I fell in love with Operation Smile.
Since then, I have been on a medical mission to
San Cristóbal de las Casas, Mexico, have
participated in events, hosted summits, and
served on both Regional and National Leadership
Councils. I'm so excited to be a Team Leader this
year and help to make this conference my best yet!
MARTIN VERA
I am Martin Vera. I am 20 years old, and I am
from Paraguay. I have been volunteering for
Operation Smile since 2012. In 2013, I
attended the ISLC in Norfolk, Virginia, U.S., and
I fell in love with Operation Smile’s cause. In
2014, I became the president of my school's
student club, and in 2016, became the
president of the university club in my country. I
am a member of the Latin America College
Counsel (CUL) 2017.

NATALIE HERR
Hi, everyone! My name is Natalie Herr and I am from Summit,
New Jersey, U.S. I first became involved with Operation Smile
by joining my school club during my freshman year. This is my
third ISLC and I am so excited to spend it with you all! In May
2016, I attended an Operation Smile medical mission in Hanoi,
Vietnam where so many lives were changed forever. As one of
the first student volunteers to attend a local Operation Smile
mission, I got to see the local Vietnamese surgeons, doctors,
and nurses changing lives in their everyday element. This past
year, I have served on the New Jersey RLC. After college, I plan
on continuing my involvement with Operation Smile by
hopefully becoming a program coordinator. I spend my free
time volunteering with Operation Smile, sailing, swimming, and
skiing. I am so excited for an amazing conference and can't
wait to meet everyone!
NICOLAS MUÑOZ
Hello! My name is Nicolas Muñoz and I am 18 years old. I have
been involved with Operation Smile since 2013. This is my
second ISLC as a Team Leader. I am originally from Uruguay,
but currently live in Paraguay, where I had the chance to be
part of 7 medical missions with Operation Smile. In October
2016, I went to Ghana for my first international mission. In
addition to volunteering for Operation Smile, I enjoy watching
movies, swimming, traveling and meeting new people. I am
excited to be a TL and can’t wait to meet all of you!
OLIVIA WAABEN
My name is Olivia Waaben and I am from Lawrenceville,
New Jersey, U.S. I have been involved with
Operation Smile since my freshman year at Lawrence High
School. This is my third ISLC. In June 2016, I volunteered
on an Operation Smile medical mission to Bacolod,
Philippines. I am a swimmer and I love running, yoga, and
staying active. I also enjoy traveling, taking road trips, and
hanging out with my friends.

REAGAN HARWOOD
My name is Reagan Harwood and I have been
involved with Operation Smile since eighth grade.
This year will mark my third ISLC and I look forward
to sharing it with you all! In May 2016, I was blessed
with the opportunity to travel with Operation Smile to
Zhenxiong, China for my medical mission trip. I was
born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, U.S. I am
going to college this coming fall and will study
Biology. I have played several sports growing up and
love going to the beach.
RILEY CLIFFORD
Hello, team!!!! My name is Riley Clifford and I am
YOUR team leader. I am from Virginia Beach,
Virginia, U.S., and go to First Colonial High School. I
am STOKED to be y'alls team leader this year as we
take off to the wonderful city of Rome. A little bit
about myself: I am a baseball and basketball player
and love the competitive atmosphere of sports. The
beach is a big part of my summers and I love having
good times with good friends. I can’t wait to meet the
team and create more friendships throughout the
amazing week!!
My involvement in Operation Smile started early in
elementary school because Operation Smile's
headquarters are local for me in Virginia Beach. In
fifth grade, I went on a mission to Tegucigalpa, Honduras and stayed with a host family. The experience
of indulging in a new culture and helping so many beautiful children created a lasting impact and a
passion for Operation Smile. I stayed involved throughout middle school and high school, and now I
am the President of the Operation Smile Club at my school and a member of Virginia’s Regional
Leadership Council. This past August, I got the chance to embark on another eye-opening experience
on an Operation Smile medical mission to Liuyang, China, a memory I will never forget. I hope to share
what I have learned and my experiences to inspire leadership and make ISLC Rome 2017 one for the
books!!
Next year I plan to take a gap year before college and add the Spanish language to my repertoire.
Meeting new people and spreading positive energy are two big things I am looking forward to this year
in Rome. This is my fourth ISLC and my first as a Team Leader. Every year has been a blast and I am
certain we will all have a grand time. I just want to say again how excited I am to meet each team
member and I can’t wait to meet up this year in Rome!!!

RITIKA KALOJI
My name is Ritika Kaloji and I am currently a
senior at Norfolk Academy in Norfolk, Virginia,
U.S. but will attend Virginia Tech, Blacksburg,
Virginia in the fall! I have been involved with
Operation Smile since eighth grade and
currently serve on the Virginia Regional
Leadership Council. I went on an Operation
Smile medical mission to Asunción, Paraguay
last March where I met some of my best friends
and had the most amazing experience. In my
free time I enjoy volunteering at my local SPCA and spending time with my friends and family. I plan to
pursue a career in medicine as a plastic surgeon and would love to be a part of medical mission teams
in the future! I am so excited for ISLC 2017 and cannot wait to meet everyone in Rome!
SANJNA KULKARNI
Hi, everyone! My name is Sanjna Kulkarni and I am from
California, U.S. I first became involved with
Operation Smile during my sophomore year of high school,
when I went to ISLC at Chapman University in Orange,
California, U.S. I started a student club at my school and have
been involved ever since. In June 2016, I was lucky enough
to go on my first Operation Smile medical mission to
Monterrey, Mexico. In my free time, I love going to the beach
and traveling. This upcoming year I will be a freshman in
college, where I'll be pre-med. In the future, I hope to be a
pediatrician and go on many more missions with Operation
Smile.
SKYLER TROAST
Hi, my name is Skyler Troast. I have been in love with
Operation Smile since my freshman year of high school. I was
fortunate enough to travel on a medical mission to Lima,
Peru. I also traveled to Kolkata, India to pilot a new patient
recruitment program for Operation Smile. I am a member of
the National Leadership Council.
When I am not
volunteering for Operation Smile, I am usually playing soccer,
hanging out with friends, or working at My Bagel Heaven in
my town. My dream is to become a medical practitioner and
travel the world.

TARA MIDGETT
Hi, everyone! My name is Tara Midgett. I live
in Virginia Beach, Virginia, U.S., and I have
been involved with Operation Smile since
elementary school! This year will be my
fourth ISLC and I am so excited about it. I am
hoping to take a gap year to travel and
volunteer throughout the world next year. In
September 2016, I was fortunate enough to
go to Asunción, Paraguay on an Operation
Smile medical mission! It was truly a trip of a
lifetime. In the future, I hope to go into
pediatrics. I also love to spend time with my
family and friends! I look forward to making
this ISLC the best one yet!
TIM RING
My name is Tim Ring and this will be my
third ISLC! Since starting with Operation
Smile in my junior year of high school, I
have had the privilege to attend an
amazing medical mission in Ouarzazate,
Morocco in March 2016. I am from New
Jersey, U.S., but I am currently studying
biology at
Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
I enjoy playing soccer, fishing, and listening
to music. My favorite movie right now is La
La Land and my favorite musician is Billy
Joel. I hope to become an anesthesiologist
and volunteer with Operation Smile on
medical missions in the future.
