No additional electrical or mechanical source required
Installation:

Before installation it must be determined that there is a
minimum of 5 fc (54Lux) of ambient light on the sign face(s) at
all times during building occupancy.
Life Safety
Things to Consider...

PL Signs are tested for visibility after 30, 60 or 120 minutes in total darkness, with test observers
acclimated to darkness for only 5 minutes. This test is more severe than any real evacuation scenario.

PNA Group has CAN/ULC-S572 approvals to the maximum 120 minutes.

If a black out lasted more than 2 hours, and building is relit and immediately occupied, PL Signs will
require only 30-60 minutes to recharge to offer 2 hour evacuation capacity; 1 hour evacuation
capacity likely available within 15 minutes.

A battery-powered sign will require between 24 hours and 72 hours to recharge to full rated capacity
(based on manufacturers specifications).

Only PL Signs are guaranteed to always perform in an Emergency.

Energy Consumption-PL requires no energy when installed where the appropriate light is available.

Reliability– LED, batteries, fixtures or lights can and will eventually fail Electricity for hook up must be properly assessed to ensure that
there is no fire risk. Hence grounding is required. As well, accessibility to live, line voltage parts must be minimized.

PL currently present no risks and have had no known failures when properly installed as to the Certification Process and Markings found on
the signage.

Disposal– LED, all electronic and batteries require proper disposal. This disposal in most areas brings a Fee for the service.

PL currently have no toxins, therefore easy disposal when required.

Maintenance– LED signs currently require a Monthly as well as Annual inspection of the batteries to ensure they are functioning properly.
LEDs require Yearly testing to ensure back up battery can illuminate sign for minimum 30,60,120 minutes before battery completely
drained. The sign then takes 24-168 hours to fully recharge.

PL requires occasional inspection +-36+6to ensure that the lighting charging the sign has not been altered in any way to reduce the
required light levels. The odd dusting and damp cloth to ensure that the surface remains presentable.

Product Guarantee– PL signs are guaranteed to perform for a minimum of 25 years.

across Canada starting in 2014
