The purpose of having students learn from using interactive notebooks is that it provides students the opportunity to receive new information, time to process/digest that information, and time to respond to that information. Students will be provided with a variety of different formats throughout the trimester to respond to the material presented. Be sure to include important people, places, locations, etc. Picture should have a title and a caption. Possible Option 2: SHORT ANSWER 1776 1781 Pick one event on the timeline. Tell in a few sentences what the event was, what caused that event, and the effect of the event. Possible Option 3: VOCABLARY Choose 4 of the new vocabulary words presented in this chapter. Create an illustrated dictionary entry for each. 2 3 Options may include an artistic option: drawing a picture, diagraming, mind mapping, etc. Another could be a short answer: interview, letter, quizlet, poem, etc. A third option could be a vocabulary option: illustrated dictionary, pictogram, synonyms/antonyms, etc. Each student can increase his/her understanding by responding to the material presented in a variety of ways. Activities may be used as an academic grade or to assess standards. Students will have some written responses graded as well.
