Kevin Tang Team 2A Worm Hole Traveling Computer and Space Travel Society has forever changed since the adoption of computers and space travel. The year is now 2040, and thanks to many years of research and the brave astronauts to test the previous versions of the Phoenix, may they rest in peace, we can finally now locate, travel to, and go through worm holes. To locate the worm holes, scientist has designed a tool that sense distortions in space and that will tell them how big it is, how far, and how much crushing pressure it has. Once the scientist locates one, they send the specifications of the worm hole to NASA and SpaceX, and yes NASA is up and running again with an unlimited supply of funding’s this time. The date is July 14, 2040, astronaut Teddy Buckland is about to be launch towards a worm hole just outside the Milky Way Galaxy, the ETA will be about five days. This worm hole has just been discovered so the mission of this trip is to see where this worm hole will take astronaut Buckland and to find new organisms. The entire mission is expected to take one years. This is astronaut Buckland’s 4th expedition out to space. The previous three were test runs to get him physically ready for this launch and to test some hypothesis scientist had about the launch of Falcon 49. Six hours before the launch, Teddy spends some time with his wife and son saying his farewells for now. Four hours until launch, astronaut Buckland is in his seat at the nose of the space rocket doing his prelaunch checks. At exactly 06:03:43, the space rocket launches. Everything went as planned and Buckland is now hurling towards the worm hole. On the 4th day something came on the radar and started to alert astronaut Buckland. It was a ribbon of asteroid in between him and the worm hole. He notifies mission control. Mission control replies back to him that the ribbon of asteroid will pass through within a day and told Buckland to hold his position for now. Just a couple hours later he notices the ribbon of asteroid is coming closer and closer to him. Turns out mission control read the radar wrong and the ribbon of asteroid isn’t just passing through the milky way, it is actually orbiting the worm hole and the was coming right at him. With not much time to spare Buckland is forced to use up 30 percent of his remaining energy to activate his force field and push towards the worm hole. Luckily his rocket has an onboard solar panel tucked away and can be deployed after entering the worm hole to recharge. BAM! Buckland’s rocket ship is hit by a huge meteorite. It knocks out the communication antenna and one of the rocket engines. Then all of a sudden darkness. The only light source coming from the rocket ship. Then a split second later, Buckland sees a ginormous planet and the spaceship is now in its orbit. Buckland now needs to make the decision to either stay longer to gather data on this new planet the size of Uranus or head back into the worm home and head back to Earth for repairs. Buckland decides to head back because he knows that things can go south really fast without a communication system. With only one rocket left on this ship Buckland cannot afford to make careless maneuvers. Just before he starts to head back into the worm hole, he hears sounds coming from the short ranged radio receiver. It seems to be coming from the planet he is orbiting. He tries to decipher the message using sophisticated algorithms on the rocket ship. The message he is receiving is a threat from the planet he is orbiting to not make any advancement towards the planet. “Attention unknown object orbiting do not proceed any closer”. Buckland acts quickly and turns the ship towards the worm hole right away not wanting to show aggression towards the planet to start a war with a species he has to idea even existed. He uses every energy left the rocket had to launch towards the worm hole, and towards Earth. After nine days without communication with mission control Buckland is now close enough to use the short ranged radio to make contact with mission control and give them an update of his current situation that he is completely out of fuel and he almost got bombed out of the atmosphere of this new planet. The rocket is now orbiting Earth and is slowly descending into Earth’s atmosphere and Buckland cannot maneuver himself out because he is completely out of fuel. NASA’s plan is to hire SpaceX to launch fuel supply to Buckland’s rocket so he can take back control of the rocket and safely land the rocket. After landing NASA has a new goal in mind. Now that they know the massive asteroids surrounding the worm hole and the planet that planes to bomb down anything that enters its airspace, NASA’s new goal in to communicate to the unknown species to hopefully make peace and to meet face to face and to learn from each other. Thanks to Buckland’s effort, he gather enough information about the planet and some information about their language to be able to communicate with them. NASA now has prepare for the next mission in 2021 to return to the new planet in hopes to communicate with them. During this whole time, no one noticed but there was something following Buckland’s ship the entire way back. After the Buckland’s ship returned to earth, the ship tailing Buckland’s ship hid behind Earth’s moon waiting for its time to emerge from the darkness. Whether it is a friendly or foe, we won’t know yet. Can it be from the planet that Buckland saw? Is it someone else? Or something else? We will only know after it decides to show itself to Earth.
