The History of Two Carolinas
- Colonists settle south of Virginia
- In 1663 a Royal Charter was
granted to eight noble lords
- The northern part of the colony
was settled by poor tobacco
farmers from Virginia while the
southern part of the colony was
founded by wealthy plantation
owners from the Caribbean. Over time
the differences in the two colonies grew.
- It was not until 1729 that the two colonies
separated and became North and South
Carolina.
