SHOWS RULES AND REGULATIONS
General
1. All classes, except those otherwise stated, are open to everyone.

(a) Watering of exhibits should be carried out between 12.30pm
and 1.30pm on Sunday 24 July.
All exhibits, personal property etc. shall be at the risk of the exhibitors.
The organisers shall not be liable for compensation for loss or damage
from any cause whatsoever.
All exhibits must be the property of the exhibitor and must have been
grown by the exhibitor for at least three months prior to the show.
Entries
5. (a) Entries shall be made on the official entry forms available from the

(b) The signing of an entry form by an exhibitor shall imply that he/she
agrees to observe and conform to all rules and regulations in connection
with the show.
The show organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry without
assigned reason for doing so.

Completed forms with entry fees to be handed in at the Show
Secretary’s desk:

Entry Fees: 1 - 20 entries, 50p each; each additional entry free.
Staging
9. Staging Times
Saturday 23 July 8am - 10.45am.
10. Exhibitors shall collect their exhibit cards from the Show Secretary’s
desk during staging time. Exhibit cards shall be placed face downwards
in front of the exhibits prior to judging.
11. All exhibits, except otherwise stated, must be staged in the vases and
bowls provided.
12. All exhibits should be correctly named on the name cards provided.
Errors in naming will not disqualify, but the judges will regard
correctness and clearness in naming as telling in favour of an exhibit in
close competition. If the name of the variety is unknown, the label
should bear the words “Name Unknown”.
13. Pot plants must be exhibited in clean pots.

Judging
14. Rose classes will be judged according to the Royal National Rose
Society Handbook “Judging Roses” and, where applicable staging will
be according to the Royal National Rose Society Regulations for
Shows. In all other classes, rules of the relevant National Society shall
apply.
15. Judging will commence at 11am on Saturday 23 July 2016. No person
except Judges, Stewards, Show Secretary, Show Manager and persons
officially appointed will be allowed to remain in the exhibition area during
the time of judging. No person may act as a Steward of a section if he or
she is exhibiting in that section.
16. The decision of the Judges shall be final as to merit. Any other points of
dispute shall be referred to the organisers for decision which shall be
final and binding on all parties. Protests on points of classification or
violation of the rules shall be made in writing to the Show Secretary not
later than 4pm on the day on which judging takes place. Protests shall
be accompanied by a fee of £5 which shall be refunded if the protest is
sustained.
Prizes
17. One first, one second and one third prize will ordinarily be awarded in
any class. An exhibitor may be awarded more than one prize in a class
except where otherwise stated. On the recommendation of a Judge,
additional commendations may be awarded in classes where the
standard is high. Any prize may be withheld or modified if the exhibits
are considered unworthy of the prize offered.
18. Successful exhibitors should claim their prize money from the Show
Secretary’s desk between 4pm and 5.15pm on Sunday 24 July. Money
and trophies not claimed will be deemed to have been forfeited.
Removal
19. No person shall remove any exhibit or portion of an exhibit until after the
show has closed.
20. The show will close at 5.30pm on the second day. Competitors may
remove their exhibits from their stands from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

Schedule of Perpetual Trophies
The Rose Society of Northern Ireland Championship - The Craig
Wallace (The Founder’s) Trophy, presented by President of the Rose
Society, Craig Wallace, and awarded annually to the exhibitor accumulating
most points in the Open classes at the Society’s Summer and Autumn
Shows provided that person has gained at least six first prizes in the process
and exhibited at both shows.
The Craig Wallace Salver. Miniature Rose Championship, awarded
annually to exhibitor accumulating most points in the miniature rose classes
in the society’s summer and autumn shows, providing that the person has
gained at least four first prizes in the process and exhibited at both shows.

Music in the Parks
Numerous musical events including band concerts, contemporary, jazz and
traditional music from May to September. Programme available from midApril.
Summer Fun Days
A series of fun days will take place in parks in Belfast during July with fun
and entertainment for children aged 5 - 12 years.
Rose Week
Monday 18 - Sunday 24 July
Visit the spectacular rose garden in Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park and
enjoy the displays of roses, a variety of activities, children’s entertainment
and music. Programme available from mid June.
Autumn Fair
Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 September in Botanic Gardens. This event
incorporates the annual autumn flower show along with local food, drink and
entertainment. On Sunday the Music in the Parks programme will conclude
with the Grand Finale band concert in Botanic Gardens. Programme
available from end of August.
