Knowsley Family Nurse Partnership
programme is offered to young women
in Knowsley aged 19 and under who
are expecting their first baby.
What does the service do?
Our specially-trained family nurses will help you understand everything you
need to know about your pregnancy and how to care for yourself and your
baby, both during pregnancy and after birth.
Our specialist nurses visit mums in their homes from early pregnancy up until
their child’s second birthday, supporting you to:
Increase your chances of a healthy pregnancy
Help you manage and plan for your labour
Improve your child’s development
Help you to build a positive relationship
with your baby and others
Help you plan for the future
Help you to make lifestyle choices
that will give your child the best
possible start in life
Help you to achieve your goals
such as supporting you to return
to education or find employment.
Why should I have a family nurse?
We know from research that a healthy pregnancy
gives your baby the best possible start in life. The
relationship you have with your baby right from the
start is really important for their future health
and happiness.
Our family nurses will support you to give your baby
the best possible start in life, which could make a
difference to you and your baby’s futures.
What’s involved?
Your family nurse will visit you regularly from early in
your pregnancy until your child is two years old. Each
visit will last about an hour.
You and your family nurse will decide together what
things you talk about each time they visit you and they
will help you develop new skills and make plans for a
healthy, happy future for both you and your baby.
What about dads?
We welcome dads or partners to join in during
the visits or you may choose to have
another family member with you instead.
You can decide who is there when your
family nurse comes to visit.
