Quick-Ticket Guidelines

Quick-Ticket Guidelines
Welcome to Online Ticket Entry!
Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Dig Safe’s Quick-Ticket program is a
free service that allows member companies and contractors the convenience of
applying for Dig Safe tickets online, without the aid of a Customer Service
Representative.
Quick-Ticket only processes routine tickets. Please call the Dig Safe Call
Center at 888-DIG-SAFE for emergency work.
If after processing a Quick-Ticket you find the information you entered is
incorrect, please contact the center at 877-DIG-SAFE to cancel the ticket before
processing a new one.
To avoid delays and ensure the successful transmission of information to
member utilities, please read and understand these guidelines before using
Quick-Ticket.
Dig Safe reserves the right to revoke a Quick-Ticket password if the user is
consistent and deliberate when submitting tickets with missing or inaccurate
information.
If you’re having trouble while using Quick-Ticket, we’re here to help! Call us at
877-DIG-SAFE Monday through Friday between 6:00am and 6:00pm.

6.
Latitude/Longitude (optional) - If you do not have lat/long coordinates
available, leave these fields blank and tab to the Address/Intersection
field. (Go to #7, Address/Intersection)
Keep in mind that if you use lat/long coordinates to describe a dig
location, you are covered for only that one specific fixed location.
Lat/long coordinates should not be used to describe a starting point.
Please occupy both latitude and longitude fields using one of the two
acceptable formats:
a)
True Decimal Degrees – The number is entered using a decimal
point after the first 2 digits, then followed by up to 7 numbers:
Example:
Latitude 42.4795875
Longitude –71.1192741
IMPORTANT! Longitude should always have a negative
symbol (-) just before the number.
b)
Degrees, Minutes, Seconds (DMS) – Six digits total for latitude, six
digits total for longitude. For each, two numbers are entered,
followed by a space. Another two numbers are entered, followed by
another space. Enter the last 2 digits.
Example:
Latitude 42 23 22
Longitude –72 31 59
IMPORTANT! Longitude should always have a negative
symbol (-) just before the number.
After entering lat/long coordinates in appropriate fields, tab to the
Address/Intersection field and enter the nearest address or street. Any
additional information should be entered in the Location Information
field. (see # 9)

7.
Address/Intersection Important to know before starting!
This field must be occupied. If left blank, Quick-Ticket will reject
the request.
Streets spelled incorrectly will be rejected by the system.
The system will not recognize a street name unless acceptable
street suffix abbreviations are used:
i.e. - St, Rd, Ave, Blvd, Pkwy, Tpke, Ln
Street suffixes must be abbreviated properly or the ticket will be
rejected by the system. If you have not done so already, download
the list of Acceptable Street Suffix Abbreviations at
digsafe.com. Click on Online Options, and then choose QuickTicket Help.
Quick-Ticket will not recognize new streets and subdivisions. Please
apply by phone at 888-DIG-SAFE for these types of requests.
Below are the recommended methods to describe
a dig location:
a) Address (i.e. 25 Main St, 7 Elm St)
b) Address Range (i.e. 1-25 Main St, 7-50 Elm St)
Separate the starting point and ending point with a hyphen (-)
5
c) Intersection or Junction – (an area where 2 streets join)
i.e. - Main St at Elm St, Chestnut Ave at Maple St
When entering an intersection in the Address/Intersection field, you
must separate each street name with a forward slash (/). Do not
enter spaces between the street names and forward slash (/).
Do not enter more than two streets when describing an intersection.
DO NOT enter in the Address/Intersection field:
o Place names (i.e. McDonald’s, Chevrolet Dealership)
o Numbers for poles, mile markers, pedestals, transformers,
manholes
o Exit numbers and lot numbers
Additional location information is encouraged! However, you must enter
these types of descriptions in the Location Information field. (See #9)
Otherwise, the system will not recognize the location and reject the
request.
If you can’t provide a physical address, range of addresses, intersection or
latitude longitude, type in the name of the street in the
Address/Intersection field, and then tab to the Location Information field
to enter in additional information.
8.
Nearest Cross Street - Enter the name of the street nearest to the
address or location of the dig site.
6
9.
Location Information – Enter any additional information to describe dig
location.
i.e. – Place names, exit and mile marker numbers, numbers for manholes,
poles, pedestals, transformers, lot numbers.

specific when describing the type of work.
i.e. – Install new pole (not “pole”); Replace water main (not “water main”),

This field accepts three digit numbers only.

Enter whole numbers only, not fractions. It may be necessary to

Quick-Ticket recognizes only military time.
Time must be entered as FOUR digits; two digits for the hour, two for
the minutes.
Hour and minutes must be separated with a colon ( : ).
i.e. – 8:00am should be 08:00
1:30pm should be 13:30

the actual time is 14:06 (2:06 p.m.), it will reject an entered start
time of 14:00 (2:00p.m.) You must advance to the next 15-minute
increment of the actual time, 14:15 (2:15p.m.).
If you enter a legal start date/time that is earlier than your state’s
