When and where is the air show? The air space familiarization time (circle maneuvers) for show aircraft is Thursday, September 11th from 12 pm to 4:30 pm. The air show practice is Friday, September 12th from 12 pm to 4:30 pm. The air show is on Saturday, September 1th3th and Sunday, September 14 from 2 pm to 4 pm. The air show will be over the water south of Locust Point and north of Brooklyn industrial area, near Fort McHenry. 2. Will the waterway be closed to boaters? Only certain portions of the Patapsco River will be closed for the air show on September 11 – 14. Boaters can watch the air show from the Inner Harbor and the areas around the air show box. The east and south sides of the air show box are suggested spectator areas for boaters. No vessels can enter the restricted area without authorization from the U.S. Coast Guard on Thurs, September 11 to Sunday, September 14 from 11 am to 5 pm. Who will be enforcing the safety zone and regulated areas? Enforcement of the safety zone and regulated areas will be conducted by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. 4. I’m boating in Middle River and see show planes departing from Martin State Airport. Is there an air show at the airport also? No. The air show is over the water south of Locust Point near Fort McHenry. Martin State Airport is the staging area for the aircraft. There are static displays at Martin State Airport. 5. Can I moor my vessel to a pier near the air show box? Only vessels authorized by the pier owners can moor to the pier or adjacent facility. Most of the facilities around the air show box are owned by the Maryland Port Authority and regulated by the U.S. Coast Guard under the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002. The facility operators will have extra security personnel patrolling for unauthorized moorings. Vessels shall remain at least 100 yards away from commercial waterfront facilities. Please do not moor to any pier or facility without authorization from the owner or operator. 6. Can I raft my vessel with other vessels? Yes. Vessels rafting will be allowed. 7. Can I anchor my vessel in the channel? No, vessels will not be allowed to anchor in the navigational channels. The Inner Harbor will be open to marine traffic and the navigational channels must remain clear. 8. Who can I call for on-water emergencies? Vessels in distress can contact the U.S. Coast Guard over VHF Ch-16 or 410-576-2525. Vessels in distress can also call 911. These numbers are for emergency situations only. 9.
