General information
The Exchange Program for Undergraduate Students
(PEC-G) was created in 1965
It grants foreigners, preferably from developing countries,
free placement in undergraduate courses in Brazil
Numbers:
More than 100 Brazilian Higher Education Institutions - HEI
(federal, state, municipal and private)
59 participating countries
Around 2000 active students
Management
Selection Process
Applications are handled by the PEC-G Operator at the Brazilian Embassy
or Consulate
Documents verification
Calculation of the average grades based on school transcripts
Filling of the application form with applicant’s information, including courses of
choice and cities of preference
MRE receives the applications and MEC nominates members of the
participating HEI’s to form the selection comittee
The Brazilian government does not interfere in the selection comittee’s
decision
No cuotas per country
Applicant’s profile
Citizen and resident in participating country
No permanent or temporary visa to Brazil
Age between 18 years old and, preferably, up to 23 years old
Have completed secondary education in a country other than Brazil
Pass the Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese as a Foreign Language Celpe-Bras.
Applicants from countries where there is no Celpe-Bras exam must take the
exam in Brazil, after completing a Portuguese language course
Have a financial sponsor who can provide sufficient resources for
student’s manteinance in Brazil
Final overall average score and final average score in the country's
official language equal to or above 60%
