Night lights make it easier to use the bathroom at night. Also, a few strips
of Night Glow Tape, on the toilet seat make it easier to find the toilet in the dark.
A free-standing holder helps if the toilet-roll holder on the wall is difficult to reach.
If using a seat or bench in the shower, make sure it is wide enough; and place rubber suction cups on all 4 legs.
Keep soap, shampoo and towels in easy reach.
Install grab-bars inside AND outside the shower. Always install grab-bars on the diagonal.
Install a grab-bar near the toilet, and on the diagonal.
These Inexpensive Items Will Make Your Bathroom Safer:
a. Night Glow Tape: masking tape which glows in the dark.
b. Two-Sided Tape. Use this to prevent bath mats and scatter-rugs from sliding or bunching up.
c. Free-standing holder for toilet paper. This puts toilet-paper rolls in easy reach.

Does your doormat slide when you push it with your foot?
Is your doorway well-lit?
Don’t shut the door on home safety.
Does your front door swing inwards, away from the doormat?

Must you step over a threshold that is more than 1” high?
suggestions to help you avoid
tripping or falling at home.
For Safety’s Sake:
1 Your doormat should never slide. Secure it with double-sided tape, or buy a non-skid mat.
2 If possible, install lighting near your front door, and consider installing motion detectors or
timers so that your doorway is better lit after dark.
3
If your front door swings outward in the direction of your doormat, have the door hung to
swing inwards.
4
Doorsills or thresholds should be 1” or shorter. Consider painting doorsills or thresholds a
different color.
