Fire Island is a 32 mile barrier island off the southern coast of Long Island, NY. While this seems like a rather
small stretch of land, there are no cars allowed on the island without proper permits, which means the only way
to traverse the island is by foot, or by boat.
Fire Island Water Taxi is available at an hourly rate for lateral service along the beach and cross-bay for all
insurance adjusters, contractors, homeowners, etc.
Adjusters with multiple appointments: If you are an adjuster with multiple clients on Fire Island, and you can
manage your schedule so all these appointments can be met on the same day, this may be to your advantage. If
you reference the below map, along with the link to the walking distances, this will help you in your decision
regarding a single day of home quotes vs. multiple days.

Please keep in mind, that although these distances may not seem very far, the roads of Fire Island are not paved.
And in some instances, there are no roads connecting certain towns.

Single Day Adjusting: If the towns are within walking distance, you are more than welcome to walk between
communities. But please keep in mind, there are no restroom facilities or places to eat on Fire Island at this

Multiple Day Adjusting: Below you will find the weekly ferry schedule, once again please note that there are
no eateries or other amenities open on Fire Island at this time, so please plan accordingly.
