for everyone. Medavie Blue Cross has designed diverse life insurance
products to meet differing needs.
Life insurance can be complex – you may not be familiar with the

This brochure may help and, when you’re finished reading, our sales
representatives and authorized agents will be ready to answer your

Term, or temporary, life insurance is ideal for ensuring you have enough life
insurance when you need it most – when you have children or buy a house.
It ensures your loved ones have the financial means to carry on if something
happens to you. Term products are affordable, even on a limited budget.
Term 10 — This plan provides flexible protection at affordable rates and is
convertible to permanent insurance until age 65.
The length of the contract is 10 years, so you are able to renew every
10 years, up to age 75, without medical exams or questions. Rates are
guaranteed for each 10-year period, which can make budgeting easier. Rates
only increase on renewal dates.
Term 10 life insurance is available for face amounts of $25,000 and up.
Regular underwriting is offered for amounts between $25,000 and $99,999,
while amounts of $100,000 and up will require regular and enhanced
underwriting.
Century Life — Low rates and permanent protection are key features of
this innovative term life insurance product. The contract remains in force
for life, not a set period of time, so the premiums are guaranteed to
stay the same.

Whole life insurance, also referred to as permanent life insurance, provides
guaranteed security – once you’re covered, you’re covered for life,
regardless of the status of your health. This is an ideal plan to buy when
you’re young and healthy because enrolment rates are guaranteed for the
duration of the contract. Many people also turn to whole life insurance later
in life when the children are grown, the mortgage is paid and retirement is
on the horizon.
Whole Life 100 — This is a permanent insurance that builds cash value.
All benefits, premiums and cash values are guaranteed for the life of the
contract. The face amount is payable upon your death or upon reaching
age 100.
Easy Access — One of our most popular products, Easy Access provides
financial security and money for final expenses with no medical exams or
tests. If you can answer ‘no’ to four basic health questions, you will be
eligible for up to $35,000 in life insurance with premiums that will never
increase. Easy Access offers cash values and the face amount will double in
case of accidental death.
Preferred Access — If you can satisfy six additional health questions, you
qualify for the same great benefits as Easy Access – at even better rates.

Any of the following riders may be added to a Term 10, Century Life or
Whole Life 100 product. Talk to an agent or sales representative about which
ones are right for you.
FAMILY TERM RIDER — This rider lets you extend coverage to
your spouse and children. It also helps you protect your children’s
future insurability by allowing them, when they reach age 21, to convert
their coverage to permanent life insurance – at up to five times its
previous value. It’s a guarantee of insurability – regardless of the status
of their health.
If you meet requirements in areas such as weight, family medical history
and driving record, enhanced underwriting offers the
possibility of coverage at a lower rate.

WAIVER OF PREMIUM — Under this option, if you become totally
disabled for a period of at least six months during the term of the contract,
the premiums for your life insurance are waived for the duration of your
disability – and your policy remains fully in force.
ACCIDENTAL DEATH — This option provides an additional payment to
your beneficiary should your death be the result of an accident. You can
purchase accidental death coverage to provide your beneficiary with up to
two times the amount of coverage included in your life insurance policy.
This benefit is automatically included with Easy Access and Preferred Access
plans, which provide double the face amount if death occurs by accident.
SATISFAcTION guARAnTEEd
Because purchasing life insurance is such an important decision, we want to
ensure you’re satisfied with your policy. With any of our life insurance plans,
you have 10 days to examine the policy and, if you change your mind,
simply return it for a full refund of any premiums you’ve paid.
