Hola Kc parents,
It’s hard to believe we already have had two
weeks of Spanish immersion kindergarten. I know it
has been exhausting for your kiddos, but they have
been hard workers. I am proud of them for focusing
on what they understand rather than dwelling on all
of the Spanish they don’t yet comprehend. An openminded attitude will take them far this year!
In math this week, we continued counting
groups of 3, 4 and 5. In language arts, we continued
to work with vocabulary from our first story Bienvenidos a Kindergarten (Welcome to
Kindergarten) and sorted a set of sustantivos (nouns) into cosa (thing) and persona
(person). Your child also had Bible class with Maestra Demestri and continued to marvel
at the complex creation of our Almighty God.
Spanish immersion is very intellectually draining, so please be sure your child gets
plenty of rest in the days between class to recharge in preparation what’s coming up:
Language Arts
Our two linguistic focuses for the week are:
- A noun names a person, place, thing or idea.
- The letter of the week is A a.
Encourage your child to identify nouns around the
house. Also, see if your child can spell his or her
name and point out the vowels as well as write
the letter A a.
Vocabulary Words
-se zambulló (dove, past tense of dive)
-el torbellino (the whirlwind)
-el bacalao (the cod)
-el pincel (the paintbrush)
-avergonzado (embarrassed)
Math
This week we will be counting 3, 4, and 5 with
objects. We will also be writing these numbers.
Please take time to practice counting at home so
your child can count and recognize numbers.
I am praying for your child and your family this year.
Feel free to let me know of any prayer requests you might have.
Line leader (Líder de fila)
This child’s job is to lead the class. This
week’s line leader is still Trevor Vos since we
have a shortened week.
Caboose (Líder de atrás)
This child’s job is to stay at the end of the line.
This week’s caboose is still Peter Bierma since
we have a shortened week.
Alumno estrella
Because it’s a shortened week, we will not
have an alumno estrella this week.
With the start of a new school year come many questions. I encourage you to get ahold
of me at [email protected] if you think of any questions or have any concerns. If
you’d like to schedule a conference with me at anytime, please let me know. I want to
work with you, parents, to “challenge students to develop their individual, God-given
gifts for a life of service in God’s kingdom”.
Blessings,
Maestra Stephanie
