July 8th — July 12th and July 15th — July 19th CAMP STAFF Chris Doyle (Camp Director) Coach Doyle is entering his 10th year of coaching high school tennis. He served as the Assistant Boys and Girls Tennis Coach for a combined 15 seasons under former coach Anthony Nardino before taking over as the Head Coach for both teams. Coach Doyle has 23 years of playing experience. This includes 4 years as a varsity tennis player at the Morgan High School in Clinton, CT and 4 years as a starter in both singles and doubles at Monmouth University, a Division 1 school. As a freshman at Monmouth University Coach Doyle was a nominee for the Male Athlete of the Year Award. In 2003, he won the Coaches Award and in 2003-2004 he was named the Men’s Tennis Team MVP. After college Coach Doyle has continued to play the game he loves so much, playing in various USTA leagues. From 2005-2011, Coach Doyle ran the very successful “Summer Tennis Lessons” at Orchard Park through the Recreation Department. Coach Doyle also teaches Mathematics at Wall High School. Coach Doyle’s staff will be comprised of current and former players from the Wall High School Boys and Girls Tennis Teams. CAMP INFORMATION CAMP INFORMATION Group 1 Cost: $60 Age 5-8 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM Group 4 Cost: $90 Age 8-11 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM Group 1 is for beginning boys and girls interested in learning the basics of tennis. Children will be put on courts to learn how to hit a proper forehand, backhand, volley, and serve, and will have the opportunity to play fun games such as jail, king and queen of the court, bull’s eye, and others that reinforce the skills being taught. This group is focused on fun while teaching the basics and is not recommend for serious players. This group is for intermediate skill level boys and girls that can keep a rally going. Players will have 45 minutes to complete drills that work on shot placement and depth, adding power to shots, strategy, footwork, and more. Players will also have 45 minutes of match play each day where they will play singles and/or doubles and receive live coaching. These groups are for intermediate level players interested in developing their game, or are interested in playing junior varsity or varsity tennis when they enter high school. Group 2 Cost: $60 Age 9-13 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Group 2 is for beginning boys and girls interested in learning the basics of tennis. Children will be put on courts to learn how to hit a proper forehand, backhand, volley, and serve, and will have the opportunity to play fun games such as jail, king and queen of the court, bull’s eye, and others that reinforce the skills being taught. This group is focused on fun while teaching the basics and is not recommend for serious players. Group 3 Cost: $60 Age 9-14 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM This group is for boys and girls who want to learn the basics of tennis, but also want to learn how to play singles and/or doubles. Students will be put on courts to learn basic ground strokes, volleys, and serves. In addition to various drills, players will be given about 25 minutes of match play and live coaching each day. This group is for beginners interested in becoming a tennis player. Group 5 Cost: $90 Age 11-14 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM This group is for intermediate skill level boys and girls that can keep a rally going. Players will have 45 minutes to complete drills that work on shot placement and depth, adding power to shots, strategy, footwork, and more. Players will also have 45 minutes of match play each day where they will play singles and/or doubles and receive live coaching. These groups are for intermediate level players interested in developing their game, or are interested in playing junior varsity or varsity tennis when they enter high school.
