VALENTINES BIG BUCKS PARTY – THURSDAY 11TH FEBRUARY 2016
A massive thankyou to all the SOS team and staff at SJSM for an
excellent Valentine’s Party.
The children had a fabulous time and this event was attended well by
everyone at the school. The money raised from these events goes straight
back into school and subsidises many school trips, coaches for events and
pays for travelling theatre groups which enhances children’s wider
opportunities.
The total raised was in the region of £283.00!

to enhance the safety of our families arriving and dropping off at school. Please do not park
on the land at the side of school and please be considerate to the workmen.
If parking on Edgemoor please refrain from parking in front of peoples cars and do not park
on the grass. It is not fair on the residents. We also remind you to watch your speed and slow
down! We appreciate your continuous support.

Eco-School Council Jumble Sale – Wednesday 24th
February 3.30pm – 4.30pm. Please bring loose change
and bag yourself a bargain to help raise funds for
Young Voices concert.
Why not have a clear out during half term?
There will be a show case of the songs from the Young Voices
Concert within school for KS2, on Tuesday 15th March at 6:00pm.
A separate letter will be sent out to allocate tickets for this.
Review of the school behaviour policy
We are continually reviewing the school’s policies and the Governors have made
several amendments to the school behaviour policy.
This will be circulated to all parents after half term.
We continually thrive to improve and maintain our outstanding behaviour
expectations at SJSM. There have been some low level behaviour disruptions in
classes over the last couple of weeks and the Governors have been informed of
these incidents. They will now be informed of any incidents and these will be
recorded in the Governors minutes in the future. Low level disruption effects
lessons, and not only does this have an effect on children’s learning but has an
effect on other children’s learning in the class. We are keen to reward all our pupils
at SJSM for outstanding behaviour and there are many children who achieve this,
and we are very proud of them! Unfortunately there has to be consequences to
actions in all walks of life and we have to prepare our children for the future.
Main Changes to be implemented after half term include:




All incidents are recorded (if a child is placed on amber or red) at any
time during the school week in a class behaviour book. Parents will receive
an end of week slip to inform them of any incidents that have occurred
during the week and this will be completed by the class teacher.
There will be some changes to the reward systems. The ‘Big bucks party’
will still continue to be held every half term and parents can join in with
this event but it will be at the discretion of the Headteacher and Senior
leadership team to exclude any child from this event up to the day of the
party and Governors will be informed of the children who are excluded
from this event. The purpose of this event is to reward those children
who have always been on green, silver or gold on the traffic lights for
the half term, which means that they continually follow school rules. All
incidents are recorded in a behaviour book at all times and these are now
being taken to the Governors at termly curriculum meetings.
Reflection time will be introduced at lunch times for children who disrupt
lessons. Children will attend on the day a recorded incident happens and
will discuss what effect their behaviour has on disrupting the lessons and
why they feel they need to act in this way.
TERMLY SUPERSTAR TRIP- children will be selected by Class teachers
and staff with the outcome being a target that children decide on every
term. We will inform parents of the termly target in the newsletter and
parents will be informed in writing if their child will be attending.
