The long-standing case against Abel Kivlat
and ~-Harry J. Smith was1 virtually closed on
January o, when counsel for the atbletes failed
to present their brief to the special committee of
the National Amateur Athletic Union, which several weeks ago heard the athletes' appeal from
the decision of the Metropolitan Association declaring them ineligible for further competition in
amateur sports. The athletes were found guilty
of demanding excessive expense money to compete in a set of games in Troy, N. T., last
September.

at the Boston A. A. meet next, month were badly
shattered when Walter F. O'Brien, of Lawrence.
Mass., the former Holy Cross star, and probable
captain of this year's team, broke his left arm
in a basket ball game. O'Brien would have
run as anchor man this year.

Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912. He expects to introduce no radical changes in the athletic policy of the club during his regime, but
he does expect to werk for the furtherance of
all branches of athletics. J. T. Mahoney, a
former high jump champion and all-around athlete, was elected vice-president, and Arthur MeAleenan was re-elected captain of the club.
