Focus is primarily on advanced degree work M.S. (non-initial
certification) and the Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a
specialization in English Education.
2001-2002: Coordinator for the Advanced Masters’ in Curriculum and
Instruction. This includes Art Education, Early Childhood
Education, Elementary Education, English Education, Mathematics
Education, Modern Language Education, Science Education, Social
Studies Education, Technology Education and Teaching English as a
Second Language.
1993-2000: Program Leader for English Education. This included
graduate and undergraduate program development, recruitment and
program management and evaluation. The English Education Program
at Florida International University has four degrees—BS, MAT,
Advanced MS and Ed.D. Led the program through its first successful
SACHS and NCATE review in 1995-1996 and the second in 2001.
Played a major role in the college accreditation efforts by
writing the department mission statement in 1995 and again in 2001
to meet the new NCATE Standards.
2001-present: Liaison Officer for the Florida Council of Teachers
of English and the National Council of Teachers of English.
