Physical Development
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Within PE lessons we will be exploring different ways of moving and
controlling our bodies. We will improve our fine motor skills
through completing daily ‘finger gym’ activities and showing off our
dance moves in ‘dough disco’. We will use the extensive outdoor
area to partake in free flow learning activities such as construction
and using the trikes. We will have a weekly ‘let’s go outdoors’
session where we can explore the pond and wooded area.
We will be getting to know one another through games,
activities and circle time. We will be learning about the
class rules and expectations and how to treat one another.
We will be looking at books such as The Colour Monster and
Colour me Happy to explore different emotions. We will be
reading Elmer the Elephant to explore how we are all
different and unique.
Understanding the World

The Hungry Caterpillar, The Tiger Who Came to Tea.

Expressive Arts and Design
We will be making use of the art and craft area and the art
easel during continuous provision. We will also make
different items with junk modelling such as replicas of our
houses. We will be making collages similar to those used in
the illustrations of The Hungry Caterpillar. We will use clay
to make moulds of our hand prints and we will be drawing
self portraits. We will also take part in lots of messy play
activities.
Communication and Language
We will be learning how to make lists and use the new
vocabulary related to our topic. We will develop our talking
and listening skills during chatterbox each week and during
regular circle times. We will be concentrating on the initial
sounds of words.
Mathematics
We will be counting up to 20 and looking at one more and one less. We will be
sequencing and looking at repeated patterns. We will be categorising items
according to their colour and size. We will use mathematical language to describe
the size and shape of different objects.
