TWU’s historic Stoddard Hall
undergoes much-needed
exterior renovations
Breyanna Davis
Manging Editor
In December, a much-needed
construction project to improve the
exterior of Stoddard Hall began.
The development is in effect and
intends to correct the outside foundation,
retaining wall, and eliminate water
infiltration to the building.
The project began with repairing
the slate tile roof. Repairs to the roof
gutters and downspouts are going to be
made as well as repairs to the drainage
system leading away from the building. All
windows will be resealed.
Also, this project intends to redesign
and rebuild the retaining walls on the east
and south sides of the building, and the
entry columns near Bell Avenue will be
revamped.
There will be repairs made to the
steps on the east entry and south side
entries. The steps have been removed, and
the plans are to have these rebuilt by the
end of the month. All exits on the side
are closed and will remain closed until
this part of the project is completed. The
building will have an available entry or
entries during the duration of the project.
Currently, many of the windows
inside of Stoddard Hall have been covered
and taped. The plan is to finish any work
that needs to be done on the inside (such
as covering the windows, etc.) by Jan.
22. The crews have been making good
progress thus far.
The project plans for its completion
by the beginning of the fall 2011 semester.
