We then travel to Nimes, one of the most attractive towns in the Mediterranean and home to the finest collection of roman remains in France, before heading to our hotel in Aix en Provence. 3 nights Grand Hotel Roi Rene Hotel, located a 5 minute walk from the Cours Mirabeau and the centre of Aix-en-Provence. (B) Sunday 11 September Today is free to enjoy Aix en Provence at your own pace. (B) Monday 12 September Today enjoy a full day visiting the towns of L’Isle sur la Sorgue, Gordes, Bonnieux and Loumarin. L’Isle sur la Sorgue is a compact medieval town built on the islands of five branches Category D & E of the Sorgue River. The river flows through, past, in and around and town adding a special beauty and character to the town. Gordes is a very beautiful old village, perched on the southern edge of the high Plateau de Vaucluse. The stone buildings built in tight against the base of the cliffs and those perched on the rocks above, including the 12th-century castle, are made of an beige stone that glows orange in the morning sun. The view from the village is a southern panorama out across fields and forests and small perched villages to the Montagne du Luberon. Bonnieux is one of the most impressive Luberon villages, in size and amenities, with plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from, a really good market, even a bakery museum! The view from Bonnieux is wonderful, out across the valley floor with its patchwork of orchards and vineyards, towards the equally picturesque perched village of Lacoste across the Vaucluse plateau. Our last village to visit is Loumarin, listed as “one of the most beautiful villages in France”, it is nestled in the middle of vineyards, olive groves and almond trees. (B) Tuesday 13 September After checking out of our hotel this morning we drive to the beautiful village of St Paul de Vence, built on its rocky outcrop and surrounded by its ramparts built on the orders of Francois 1st, St Paul is certainly one of the most beautiful villages in Provence. The beauty of the surrounding area, quality of life and exceptional light has inspired numerous famous artists, painters, writers and poets, some of whom took up residence in the village. After exploring the village we then head to Nice Airport for our flight to Dubai. On arrival in Dubai we overnight at the Dubai International Hotel located inside Dubai International Airport.
