The Williams Fall Newsletter
Greetings, to our family and friends! Many of you know that we moved to Bigfork, Montana to
work at Big Sky Bible camp. Brent has taken over their director of maintenance position. We are
continually reminded of Gods’ faithfulness as we have chosen to serve Him here at camp. It has been
quite the transition for our family to move away from our loved ones into new territory. We delight in
knowing that this is where He wants us. God has led us here to Montana and we are humbled to be
serving Him here at Big Sky Bible Camp. We are excited to see what challenges and blessings the winter
months will bring. God is faithful.
When we arrived at camp at the end of June, it was a busy time with camps already in progress.
We felt honored to work with such great people and to see all the campers enjoying themselves and
having a place to grow in their faith. Our favorite was Camp Promise, a week of camp for special needs
children, followed by a week of camp for special needs teens and young adults. The ratio of counselors
to campers during these weeks was almost 1 to 1 so it was a busy place. It was so neat to see the
camper’s joyfulness
when arriving here,
and the parent’s
excitement for their
children. What a
wonderful service
the camp provides to
these campers as
well as the break it
gives their parents
who care for their
special needs kids
24/7.
Brent spent
a lot of the summer
fixing immediate
needs like plumbing,
doors, kitchen
exhaust fans, and
things that needed
to be done to keep
camp running
smoothly for other
people. They have
also been in the
process of building a new building for offices, craft and store /snack rooms. The building has been in
progress for 2 ½ years. Brent has taken over the completion of that building. He was able to finish
roofing it and he did all the siding and painting, and some finishing work on the inside. They transferred
the office into there about a month ago. He has also been winterizing the camp buildings that will not
be used this winter. The other big project he has been working on is tearing down an old mobile home
on the property that was not being used and was becoming an eye sore.
BSBC is in a time of transition and change that we are happy to be a part of. The staff is in a
rebuilding phase where the onsite staff which at this time consists of the director and his family, an
office receptionist, and ourselves are all new, with the exception of Hash, who is Brent’s coworker. Hash
is 85 years old and been working at camp for 35 years. Although there is an excellent summer camp
program, the fall, winter and spring activities here have been struggling. The camp is in the process of
reaching out to the communities and churches and building interest in retreats and conferences. As well
as offering a free pastor /Christian worker getaway. It is also our goal to expand on the Camp Promise
The Williams Fall Newsletter
program for special needs kids and adults by expanding the facilities to better accommodate their needs
so we can offer year round programs for them.
Our ministry here is to help get this camp back up on its feet with the new director and others
that are here so this camp can bring in retreats, conferences and campers as a place for them to come
and deepen their faith in their walk with the Lord. We seem to have a niche for fixing things up,
remodeling, that sort of thing. To take something broken, or worn out and give it a new, fresh look is
challenging and rewarding. That reminds me of what the Lord has done for us. We have been broken,
worn out, and he has given us a new, fresh start with a peace that surpasses all understanding. We are
so grateful for the miracles that God has done in our hearts and lives, without Him directing our paths;
it’s hard to think of what our lives would be without his sovereign mercy.
We are homeschooling the kids here and have been able to get connected to a church that has
many activities that we have been able to get involved with like gymnastics and choir for the kids and
small groups for us. The kids are also really enjoying Awanas this year. They have made some friends
and are enjoying our 8 new baby kittens. They built a fort in the woods when their cousins were here
that has been fun for them too. They are looking forward to winter to be able to go sledding, ice skating
on the lake here and try our hand at skiing.
Prayer Support: Pray for insurance approval for a surgery Amy needs on her foot. A
safe trip as we will be visiting family in Brent,
Iowa for
Christmas, and for God’s guidance and
Amy
provision for immediate and future plans. The challenges at BSBC.
